LaMelo is exciting to me. But he sure does seem like he would be impossible to be able to keep in Milwaukee if given the chance to leave.

Re: Indiana Pacers Draft Pick Watch Thread
Is Ball's passing close to Jason Kidd level or more like Rubio or who are we comparing his court vision to?
Otherwise offensively I've still got PTSD from MCW if we're concerned he won't be able to put it all together or develop a consistent shot.
Defensively it seems like he has the tools to get it together if he wants to, but it's not like he'd ever be a Ben Simmons.

I’d imagine if Giannis took him under his wing that would help. Being so young, he’s impressionable. Team success and the ability to earn the most money usually wins out in those situations.

What most excites me about the thought of a guy like Ball is Giannis and co finally getting a true playmaker. I could get behind the plan if it were to be to grab a true playmaker and shooters galore.

I'd say jason williams (the white pg not the dude who shot his limo driver) is a good passing comp. Flashy and creative.raferfenix wrote:Is Ball's passing close to Jason Kidd level or more like Rubio or who are we comparing his court vision to?

I'd be more comfortable with Ball if he had the mindset of Rubio or Kidd where they understand they aren't great shooters so looked to pass first. As I was saying earlier my worry with ball is he could be a bad shooter who still loves to shoot, that's the scary combo.

If a playmaker for Giannis is what you want, just go get Rubio.

Its certainly not a bad idea, he does a ton of winning type ****. Now I haven't heard the bucks name as a possible landing spot if the paul deal goes down. Clippers and Magic are the two teams that have been linked so far.ReasonablySober wrote:jakecronus8 wrote:What most excites me about the thought of a guy like Ball is Giannis and co finally getting a true playmaker. Seems like we could do a lot better than Ball for Middleton, plus I’d think Giannis would be gone rather than wait a few years before Ball is ready for a deep playoff run

He’s #1 on my list. Him and Bogdanovic as the backcourt would fun.

I'd be fine with that - even though I think Rubio isn't appreciably better than Bledsoe. Bledsoe's a much more efficient scorer, while Rubio's a much more pure PG - much better at setting the table for others. Bledsoe's better defensively - though Rubio's quick hands help him be effective. The important thing to me is getting Bogdanovic. He may not be a big name that casual fans are looking for, but I think Giannis would love to have him as a teammate. And Rubio's fine as a replacement for Bledsoe.

I'm coming around more on Cole Anthony as a prospect. Maybe I need to get my eyes checked, but his movement, especially the baseline jumper, looks similar to Sam Cassell.

I would be very happy if he fell to us. At the end of the day, there will be a good PG prospect available at 24. It's just a question of whether or not we take them.

Pass on Cole Anthony. He's not even a PG, imo. If he wasn't rated so highly in HS, would anyone even consider him a FRP?

Re: Indiana Pacers Draft Pick Watch Thread
I think Cole will be a damn good pull up shooter and solid POA defender. His athleticism took a dip, I do wonder if he was playing injured last year.
Agree he's more of a 2 on offense that guards 1's. Just doesn't have the passing chops to run an offense consistently.
HS/AAU tape should be considered for guys that had big contextual factors in college. Cole and Maxey are the first that come to mind there.

I'd say this applies to Nico too but I'm much lower on him as a prospect than the other two anyways.

Mannion may be pulling a Christian Wood/Trevon Duval and interviewing his way out of the draft completely

Probably, because he scored 20 ppg in the ACC as a freshman. If UNC didn't suck this year I'm sure he'd go higher. The lack of shooting on that team was unbelievable.

I can't remember, did they change the rule so that if you don't get drafted and don't hire an agent, you can re-enroll?
