Re: What should the Hawks do with #6
If there’s a vet that can be had for a reasonable cost,
preferably one that doesn’t boot us out of the first
round of the draft, then do that. If not, pick Okoro, spend wisely during FAcy and trust our core to lead us to the postseason. If Okoro’s gone then get Hali. I’m kinda high on him now.

What vet do you suggest? Any in mind?

Well all the VET vets that would fit are just not ideal contractually and could possibly cost a piece of the core. Jrue is a no brainer of course, I no longer want anything to do with Dipo whatsoever, and Hayward is likely ending up in Indiana.
Sooo I’m gonna put my Myrak hat on and mention a player for the umpteenth time. I REALLY really like the Oubre (and maybe Rubio)+10 deal if we can help facilitate CP3 to Phoenix. I just like Oubre’s game and I think he’s such a great cultural fit and we have a good chance of resigning him especially in that crowded FA pool, plus we’d have 10 just in case. This article does a good job of summing it up: https://soaringdownsouth.com/2020/11/12/kelly-oubre-fire-atlanta-hawks/
We do this deal, we start with: Trae/Cam/Oubre/JC/Capela. That’s beautiful on both ends of the court.
10 should still land us one of Hali or Vassell (if Okoro is gone) or Williams. Then depending on how we draft, we hunting for actual seasoned vets in FA and throw big one year overpays at em. This means Dragic, Grant, etc. Playoffs would definitely be in our scope.

But we have Hunter starting at SF. To me, he’s going to be better than Oubre this coming season. Plus the last paragraph of that article mentioned that Oubre reminded the author of Baze in playing out of control at times. I hated that. I don’t think I like Oubre but I like the type of deal but more of a big body girthy tough dude not another wing.

Oubre seems to be be a popular topic for most of the teams in the league. Writers are just making up stuff.

Just read the Magic are offering Aaron Gordon + 15 to move up into the lottery. I'd do that in a heartbeat for our #6 pick.

If we stay put, I like Okongwu/Halliburton.
Oubre + 10 is a good deal for us.
Don't like the 17 + Culver rumor for us, but have to trust in Travis Schlenk at this point
Dislike 6 for Jrue Holiday
Really dislike Aaron Gordon + 15
Will retch if we trade for Oladipo

I think I like the prospect of Hunter playing small 4 more and more these days, I think there are a lot of matchups he can take advantage of. But Oubre, at the very least, would serve as a nice, energetic shot in the arm that can definitely contribute to a playoff push, especially a push lead by Trae and JC. Oubre would be a very solid 3rd, much smoother than Baze imo, not a fan of that comparison from the article. There’s just not a deal better than that for our pick as far as cost and potential is concerned.

If this is expected to be the last lottery pick for the franchise for a while...I say swing for the fences on a star.
Killian Hayes
Isaac Okoro
Deni Avdija
Devin Vassell
Patrick Williams

Well I think I’m on record as being one of the first to float the idea of Oubre to the Hawks. Everyone is just catching up.

Hunter might play a bit of pf in stretches but our power forward is JC and that’s because our center is Capela. Neither of those guys is coming off the bench to insert Hunter as a 4.
There aren’t many deals out there that favor us. I haven’t heard any that I like too much. Right now I wanna stand pat at 6. I don’t even really wanna move up because that would cost not only future assets but definitely Huerter and I like him he’s a smart player who can pass and shoot.

Okongwu? He screams star to me.
I love Vassell and Okoro too.
I think Hayes and Deni will be average.
Patrick Williams is solid and apparently the youngest in the draft although he kinda looks old.

You were on record for Oubre. I’ll check! I have been the driver of the Okongwu wagon.

Oh I was thinking Hunter backing Collins. I can very easily him having opposing 4s in hell offensively. But even if you want him starting, Oubre and him at 2 and 3 isn’t bad either. There’s a lot you can mess around with and all of it is good in my opinion.
Agree about Huerter, moving up is off the table. I think a lot of people have underestimated Huerter’s ability to develop into the secondary playmaker we’ve been looking for and at his size I definitely seem him only improving on defense.

Based on all the trade offers I've seen and the state of the team. I vote pick BPA at #6
I like OO, Okoro and Hali equally and I expect one of them to be added to the team very shortly
It's going to get really exciting with the draft and FA. Hawks are going to be big players in FA / trades
