I believe so. Russel plays like Rose in the sense that they are both freaks athletically but were horrible shooting (Rose's time with the Bulls). They both penetrated at will and Thibs made Rose into the youngest league MVP. If there is one coach to have him play under control its Thibs. Don't dismiss Bryant either. If this happens and that's a HUGE if, then its possible to see him play more under control with our coaching staff.

If it happens, then I hope you're right. He still has elite penetration ability which could be used to good effect if he plays with his head up. Mitch's PPG could balloon in that case. Still need to draft a deadly shooter for the backcourt.

I'm figuring Randle will be dealt if Russ comes which would also open the starting PF spot.

Let’s make the playoffs this year.

why? this team w/ Russ is no better than an 8 seed at best. quite possible they'd still miss the playoffs even w/ Russ

and the 2021 draft is 1 of the deepest drafts in recent memories. makes no sense to push for the playoffs only to get knocked out in the 1st round and simultaneously hurt draft positioning......for a player who SIGNIFICANTLY hurts cap flexibility b/c he's owed 130M for the next 3 years

+ he's injury prone and getting old (32); he's on the decline. he's an overrated stat-padder and if they acquire him, they'll be a treadmill team for the foreseeable future

Prove it contracts....Drafting shooters

Would Boston do this:
Bos: Gordon Hayward, 14th, 26th and 30th
NY: 8th, DSJ, Bullock, Taj, Ellington and Pinson

Would OKC do this:
OKC: Knox, Frank, Portis, Payton, #30th (Bos)
NY: Chris Paul, #53

WE get both Heyward and Chris Paul

Then with draft picks:
#27 and #30 to Minnesota for #17

#14-Tyrell Terry
#17-Jalen Smith
#26-Desmond Bane
#38-Killian Tillie

No one wants 8M Wellington, 8M Payton, 9M TaJ and 15M Portis. Especially a contender.

There aren't gonna be any crowds. No MSG excitement. Top-heavy draft class.

If there was ever a year NOT to be good and make the playoffs, it'd be this one.

It's only 72 games in 5 months. It's fast. We won't suffer too much with losses and bad play...

Tanking is better than trying to win with WB...

Tanking didnt help us this year LOL but I’m still looking foward to the draft can’t believe it’s finally here

but w/ such a deep draft in 2021, there are 6-7 players who'd likely go #1 next week if they were eligible. Obviously it would be great to be get top 3, but anywhere in the top half of the lottery will be good next year IMO

If we could get Hayward and CP3 without giving up any real assets, then sure, why not. Both guys would help RJ, Mitch, Frank, picks, etc. get better.

If we get decent vets here that actually fit and RJ and Mitch show any signs of development or improvement this team will not be picking top 5 chief then what?

look at the teams who finished w/ worse records last year:

Warriors: contender next season
Cavs: just as much young talent (Garland, Sexton, #5) + better vets (Love, Drummond)
Timberwolves: KAT, D'Lo, #1
Hawks: better young talent + they now have Capela, and rumored to be going after Holiday
Pistons: this is the 1 team that I actually think will be worse than the Knicks

if the Knicks roll w/ the young players, add some complimentary vets (stretch-4, vet PG like Augustin) they'd likely be a bottom 5 team, if not bottom 3

especially considering that the season will be 72-games, more division heavy, and the other 4 teams in the Atlantic (Celtics, 76ers, Raptors, Nets) will all be playoff teams, making the season even tougher

I don't want CP3 or Russ, but at least CP3 makes those around him better

Russ will just dribble the air out of the ball and take contested mid-rangers + steal rebounds from Mitch so he can get his #'s
