Not sure how they can say he won't miss camp when no camp dates are even set yet. Hopefully, this has no future issues.

Seems like a common procedure among NBA players. Recovery usually within 6 weeks. New season unlikely to start until 2021.

NBA is targeting December 22nd to start the season, which is 8 1/2 weeks away. If that's the case, camp and preseason games are probably starting up in about 4 weeks from now. A 6 week recovery makes him miss the start of camp.

Yeah, that December 22 news came out prior to my post. Prior to that, the target date was MLK Day, mid-January. This changes things. He likely misses start of camp, which is first week of December.

Everything's fluid right now though.

I think they realized there was a $500 million dollar difference in starting before Xmas as opposed to January. I don't know if that's taking into account them banking on having fans in the stands by Xmas?

I think they realized they won't be able to admit fans for a long while the way it's going (USA just hit their single-day record for COVID cases). No point in waiting. The Christmas money helps. So maybe the goal is get as much as they can for 2020-21 even without the fans (maybe come playoffs, there will be). Then just have a full, normal 2021-22 season.

Theis is a gutsy player. He filled in for us, as a Starter. -- I'd love to keep again (off the Bench) into 2020-21.
He's got a Non-Guaranteed (at $5M) that Celtics would be stupid to not pick up.

Celtics are 9-1 when he's at least +5 for the game, 13-6 when he takes at least 7 FGAs, 12-5 when his usage is at least 14%, 14-6 when he scores at least 8 points.

Logical or not, he's my barometer this season. If he plays well and makes an impact, the team succeeds more than not. We know what we're getting from our top 4 guys. Theis being more consistent would help the team. He currently leads the team in oncourt net rating (+4.3) playing the 3rd most minutes on the team behind the Jays.

I want his next contract to be with the Celtics too.

Unless I'm forgetting somebody -- and I'm not forgetting Battie or the Shaq year -- one of Theis or Timelord should be our best backup center since Walton.

LOL, at one time I was high on Ante Zizic. Then someone sent me some Euroleague highlights, and the 6-11 Zizic couldn't get his shot off against some 6-8 German guy I never heard of. I found out who he was when the Celtics signed him a year later.

I was high on Zizic too. Real high. One of my great misses.

Ironically, Zizic only slightly underperformed his draft slot. Drafted 23rd, wound up 29th in his class in career win shares (so far).

3.5: Zizic career win shares
4.1: Career win shares of player with 23rd most in the draft class (Denzel Valentine).

Though Valentine is still playing, most players below Zizic are not. Only player with a real chance to pass him and bump him down to 30th any time soon is - wait for it:

*drumroll*

Abdel Nader, drafted 58th, with 2.7 career wins shares, and playing 14.4mpg for PHO this year.

To be fair, Theis would have gotten called for three fouls if that was an NBA game.

The crazy thing is that Zizic's stats in the Adriatic league were almost identical to Jokic's. Alas, the Joker took it to the next level and Zizic didn't. Zizic was over his head in Euroleague.

Theis would've been called for 5 fouls in that sequence in the NBA. 8-)

No, he would only have been called for the first one
