hypothetical sceniaro: what if Mo is still dealing with serious COVID issues, and his career is potentially done. Does that alter who you like in the draft? Do you consider a big with our pick?

Not with our first pick. I wouldn’t mind snagging someone at 45. It shouldn’t be hard to find someone better than Birch. Tillman is probably better right now. I’d rather our 3rd center have more positional versatility than Birch does.

I don't care. I'm hanging on until I know for sure what he's capable of. I'd have to be blown away.

I think nyce meant Bamba would be forced to retire and NOT us trading him. So yeah.. we wont be able yo see what he is capable of because in that svenario Bamba is done with pro ball for good.

Actually think Kevin Pelton’s WARP rankings holds high for WeHam.

Looking at the rankings
If I remember correctly,

isaac was number 3 in WARP for his draft class
Bamba was 7 (MPJ and Mikal were ahead of him though)
Okeke was number 2 in his draft class.

Isaac. 3rd in warp. 2.5

Bamba. 2.5 WARP:

Okeke 2.6 warp
2nd highest

So according to all rumors we interview PGs only.
Maybe front office figured you can't build team around guards who can't shoot pass 10 feet?

Looks like we haven't worked out Haliburton, so he must be our target.

it is based on advanced stats. And i think that’s the direction weham have been doing for a while now.

I like this aproach a lot more than what teams like Minnesota, Cleveland or other rebuilding teams are doing. We at least have a direction. Everyone laughs at us, but its not only length, advanced stats are not from thin air. Its easy to write us off, but this year we played without all our first round selections under Weltman in post season.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

So Cole Anthony or RJ Hampton? One fits the Hammond archetype more than the other. I am good with it.

2017 draft is complete disaster within top 12 picks for most teams.

Magic ended up with Isaac and they can be happy. Probably magic and Knicks are only teams that got any value for position where they drafted. And ofc Celtics. Freaking Danny Ainge...

I would be furious if we selected either of them at #15.

Rolling with this idea for a minute.

It’s hard not to think Haliburton is the target for our AG + #15 trade up agenda.

If I remember correctly, magic didn’t draft any player who interviewed or worked out for them. Issac in 2017, bamba 2018 and Okeke 2019.

Don’t really count on who work out for them.

I dont know how Haliburton would succed in Cliffords inside-outside offense. Player with similar projected role last year was NAW and we literally made a smokescreen out of him. We doesnt seem high on guards who cant get to the rim. I would pick Hayes, Vassell and Okoro before Haliburton.
