This feels like rock bottom. Arguing whether we should take on Westbrook just for something different to watch.

Sure , Westbrook is 32, but can we not pretend he would not be on east probably starting PG on allstar team ?
Is that path toward championship? Not really. But building around draft busts and always injuried prospects really isn't either.

It’s not like we have a clear timeline to follow. We have no direction and are going nowhere, so why not? And this is coming from a guy who HATES Westbrook as a basketball player.

This might be the 2nd best team in the east

Aminu, Evan, Fultz see yaa !
Use MLE to draft shooter ( Knightro already proposed Holiday) and resign DJ and mCW
But let's get even wilder. Westbrook, Covington and Tucker for Evan, Gordon, Fultz and Aminu.
Magic projected 5
Westbrook-Ross- Covington- Tucker- Vuc
DJ/ MCW/ Holiday/ Okeke/ Bamba
3 point galore confirmed
I don't care if we need to throw 15# pick in, if not, just draft whoever can shoot at 15#
The thing is, this team will probably win 48 games on East and will have really one of better pick&roll actions with Vuc-Wes connection. Tucker, Covington and Ross will space the floor and keep defenders honest, also they play some tough defense.
Next year Vuc gets worst, Wes gets slower but Isaac is there to bridge a gap. Freaking Covington and Isaac at SF- PF? Damn that's some elite defense

If the argument is that you’d rather watch Orlando lose as the 7th/8th for the next two seasons, rather than roll the dice, then that’s pretty sad. It’s not a great consolation either way.
Orlando would have to give up players to acquire Westbrook. I don’t believe the Magic become better by acquiring him insofar that the identity and direction of the team is finally reset. Orlando wasn’t competing for anything realistically in the next 2-3 years regardless.
Hypothetically, if Orlando were to acquire a guard prospect in this draft, we could do a lot worse than have Westbrook as a mentor. We all noticed what happened with Oladipo in OKC playing next to him.
Id assume rolling out this roster next season without Isaac or a facelift will be a rough watch for fans.

This is honestly my biggest fear for this upcoming year.
Weltman and Hammond seriously aren't going to run it back this year with last year's team + Okeke in Isaac's spot and the 15th overall pick, are they?

Pepe, I'm actually really surprised that you are one of the let's trade for Westbrooke supporters. I mean, not that I don't see the argument for doing so, it just seems like an inefficient ball-dominant point guard who heavily relies on his athleticism and who is on the other side of 30 isn't usually the type of player you are a fan of.
Especially when considering the money we would have to pay him over the next 3 years.

I think there's almost no chance the Magic front office pursues Westbrook.

Nets and Rockets are discussing potential trade of James Harden, per Sports Illustrated.
Nets will trade Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, Taurean Prince, and Jarrett Allen.
If so, Nets will win the Eastern Conference this upcoming season

Will Kyrie be the next All-World Point God marginalized by Harden's shadow. BRK would be better off with Vuc and AG than Harden.
(Relax, I'm talking about fit...NOT saying Harden isn't all-time, all-world)

This rumor didn't come from "Sports Illustrated" in the traditional sense for what it's worth.
As part of Sports Illustrated getting taken over by Maven, all of the major sports teams is required to have their own Sports Illustrated-branded sub-site. A blog essentially. The bloggers who work on these sub-sites are not on any sort of guaranteed contract and are paid via link clicks and blogs posted.
This "rumor" originated from one of the bloggers on the on Sports Illustraded *CLIPPERS* sub-site.
I wouldn't take it too seriously.

The obvious reason why not is that it takes you out of the summer of 2021. I have a feeling this is why they want to move Gordon. Dumping Gordon to move up in this draft is otherwise indefensible for a team that is trying to make the playoffs. The 2021 free agent crop is loaded.

Having Vooch and Westbrook on this team would be like a dream come true for me. Definite contenders in the East.

That assumes any franchise changing talent actually WANTS to be here. Mediocre, non glamour teams like us shouldn’t bank on free agency to save us. The only way we are getting a star outside of getting lucky in the draft is trading for a disgruntled one, especially one who can be had for very little.

Sadly it sure looks that way. We've become the Bucks that Hammond was the GM for. Good enough to make the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed and bounced out of the first round.

I've always been a Westbrook fan. Fully acknowledging his flaws, I've just always admired his competitiveness. Always cheered for the Thunder to win out West.
One thing he's never had is an offensive minded Center to play with. I really wonder what kind of team we could build out here with that duo. Someone coming in and pushing Vuc to step away from being our primary scorer is more than WELCOMED news to me!
If he were to come, he could also attract some valuable FAs who would be willing to take less to join us.

Well, not a big fan of Russ, but that would be fun if we can keep Vuc.
