I'm really surprised they're getting things up and running so quickly. They must have lost A LOT of money last year.

I was thinking that they should try and start off the season with the league divided into 6 regional "bubbles" grouped by division. Each team would play 2 of their games against division opponents (8 games overall). That would take about 3 weeks and get them to mid-January, at least partway through what is likely to be a winter surge in Covid cases.

I saw $1.5 billion claimed as the revenue shortfall vis a vis projections (link: https://apnews.com/article/nba-nba-finals-basketball-basketball-6a627d15d84a5593ea3bdb65893d65e2), although it seemed like, among other things, the $200 million ( :o ) spent on the bubble was included in that? So I'm not sure if we're actually talking about a straight up $1.5 billion loss or what - NBA team revenues in 2018-2019 added up to around 8.75 billion, so that seems unlikely.

One thing that needs to be discussed is the benefit of Wall's return. Beal has elevated his game and we will continue to do a lot of that. But when we put Wall in PnR with Beal and Bertans on the floor, a help defender will only be coming from that other player to help. This season will hinge on Bonga/Rui/Brown Jr. being able to make that 3. I also think we are going to see major improvement from non-Beal lineups. And a return to how the offense looked last year when Wall's off the floor and Beal is on it.

Part of me thinks we trade our picks because of the short turnaround. Would be hard to get rookies up to speed if we're seriously in win now mode.

That's silly. Draft picks are on the roster for 4 years. You don't make decisions that affect the next 4 years because you are worried that the first month might not be ideal.

The Wizards may or may not trade the pick, but it won't be because of the short training camp period.

You must have PTSD from being a Wizards fan for too long. LOL.

Maybe that's what it is

But yea I definitely want to keep the pick. Ideally trade back and get another as well.

I guess so.

Deni is already with the team.

The vaccine will begin rolling out next-month, hopefully things will start getting back to normalish the 2022 season, one more season of financial pain.

Uh oh... whoever tested positive for Covid is going to miss TC & some part of the season! Not to mention that given how short the pre-season is -- we'd better hope Bertans gets his visa straightened out pronto!

"Brooks said the player who tested positive is not in D.C. and is not a returning player. He also suggested they have never been to Washington before, which means it's likely one of their rookies as any NBA veteran would have traveled through on a visiting team."

(Or maybe Gill?)

Here’s who reportedly is in camp. No Neto or Childs. One of them may be the player who tested positive.

Wall, Ish, Cassius
Beal, Brown Jr, Matthews (?), Robinson
Bonga, Avdija
Rui, Bertans, Gill
Bryant, Lopez, Wagner, AP

Don't wish anybody any bad thing, but... I hope it's not Childs, as it might well end his stint w/ the team, given he's on an Exhibit 10 deal.
