I don't like trading Green for a guy who won't be able to defend wings, but maybe they have a replacement lined up in free agency?

That's a fantastic trade

You still have Kuzma and you still have the MLE. Plenty of ways to get a Green replacement

So... no Danny Green in the deal?

Seems like Green is in the deal. Shams isn't reporting the full deal. Why is he making it sound like Green is a throw in and the real prize for OKC is the 28th pick lol

Playoff Rondo was special but I won't be sad to see him go. It would be funny if he goes to the Clippers.

I think that's a mistake. If you are trading Green and a pick you should get a guy who would finish games in the playoffs for you. Shroder is more like a scoring punch from the bench. You don't have to trade 2 of you 3 best trade assets, just to replace Rondo

I wonder if OKC expands the trade and flips Green elsewhere for another asset. I swear if Green goes to the Mavs, he'll turn back to a 45% shooter

Green +14.6 in 522 non garbage minutes in the playoffs. 2nd best on the team behind AD.

BTW, Kuzma was -12.3 in 468 minutes

They canned that in the finals but his team defense/rotations/weakside rotations and communications directly caused or contributed to a lot of breakdowns. With the Warriors back in the picture there's no room for players who will be prone to backdoor breakdowns but can respect your idea to keep the team together for chemistry

Garbage tier?

You are making stuff up now (fiction plain and simple).

Put me in the "Morris played garbage tier team defense camp" as well. It was straight up horrible - whether he was the 4 or 5. Like single-handedly torpedo'd a LOT of defensive possessions. I was noting it in the LBJ thread pretty often during the games. Cranji's (as good at breaking down games as anybody - at least anybody online) mentioned it a lot on his live-tweets too. I didn't realize this was even up for debate.

I don’t particularly care what “god Cranjis” made mention of. So many in here seem ready and willing to swallow the Jim Jones punch for this guy. I don’t get it.

That’s the same guy that stumped for that big ball (vertical spacing) BS in the Rockets series.

Time and again the Lakers had greater success when they downsized against small ball teams. Opting for actual “shooting threat” spacing instead of that dunker spot, “vertical spacing” BS.

I will maintain that Markieff Morris was adequate as a defensive contributor (that is my contextualized opinion). You guys are entitled to your own.
Don't believe the hype...

Lakers should also try to move Kuzma.

I wouldn't mind it for our depth, but Wes Matthews isn't a starting 5 guy in my opinion. He's not the shooter Danny Green is (or he doesn't get the same respect as Danny Green does from 3). He's a capable defender though, but we need a real 3&D guy to plug into our starting line-up.

This is why running it back is so difficult. Not every group of guys is like Golden State where they’re all willing to take paycuts and aren’t interested in exploring deals elsewhere.

So far the team has probably downgraded at the backup PG spot (at least in terms of playoff impact) and lost its starting SG whose defense was pretty important to the team.

I like playoff Rondo but he did have a lot of games in the post-season where the duo had to bail him out.

He's just not worth the money he could be asking for (rumor is he wants 8 mill), especially in a quick turnaround season coming up.
