You do realize that you not only got a 1st rd pick, but you can flip Green’s expiring another asset too? Schroeder is a 1 year rental, this is great value.

They got #25 for Grant. They get #28 and a 3-D wing who has won back to back championships.

I think the return is fine. Green could even start the year with the Thunder with the hopes of him turning around his shooting percentages this year. He could be an asset by the deadline.

So Oubre, Rubio & Green. There are all guys a contender could use. I could see them getting a first for each guy.

One interesting item is the Thunder don’t want to take on salary. What do the plan to do with 2 Max cap spaces in 8 months?

Depending on what green is flipped for I could revise my opinion. If this was the best deal, it is what it is. I think a better return could have been had if we had moved Schroder at the deadline. Also moved Gallo and likely kept our own pick. It’s. Its not a horrible deal for okc but if most people had to pick a winner in this trade, i think it would be LA.

So I’m guessing we don’t want long term salary from phx but we plan on taking bad contracts back at some point.

Right so a guy like Danny Green could expire and we are just fine. A guy like Batum would be a good fit @ $27 million, 1 year.

It’s just interesting that they don’t want to take on future money. So look for Rubio to be on his way elsewhere.

Reading Dallas is a possibility. They were interested at last years deadline.

Interesting.

Jackson, Marjanovic, Cauley-Stein gets them there... but maybe they are interested in moving off of Hardaway Jr. and giving us something to do so?

It's odd that it's being reported that OKC doesn't want multi-year deals coming back given that it was previously said they wanted to take on bad contracts for assets so I'm confused on that front.

I’m thinking they don’t want Rubio back. meaning they just don’t want money back in the cp3 deal but they’ll take it from elsewhere. Maybe?

I could not agree more. Green is nothing at this point. Dennis is a near 20ppg guy off the bench. For #28? That is it?

No offense to CP3 but I preferred watching Dennis last season especially in the playoffs. Good deal for the Lakers.
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

Lots of others on the trade board seem to be convinced green will return some kind of asset. We’ll see.

You make a good point. Yeah, they would need to find a suitor for Rubio if that is truly the case.

Rubio + Kaminsky + Payne + Diallo works according to TradeNBA. Golden State might be interested in absorbing Rubio into TPE. That would allow Curry to play off ball some and lighten his load for the foreseeable future. The Bulls might be interested in bringing in Rubio. They could use a veteran PG to organize the offense and to help transition the team towards Donovan's offense.

Well it’s not always what a player is worth in a vacuum but what someone is willing to pay and how many people are interested. Reportedly the bucks were offering 24 but Bledsoe. Are those 4 spots worth another $30 million? Presti probably figures he can get two more picks with that savings. I’ve seen it thrown around about a pick swap with Dallas for green and Delon Wright and filler. That gets okc up to 18.

Again I don’t think the trade is great on its own but a lot is likely going to happen in the next few days which will allow us to evaluate things more clearly.

Clippers fans are very interested but I’m all for going out of our way to sabotage their team. 8-)

We are definitely not doing a damn thing to assist the Clippers. If anything, we are trying to improve the other Western Conference frontrunners.

Which is a bonus of the Schroder trade. Let the lakers beat the clippers again this year and what happens in free agency next year?
