At a certain point you just have to walk away. I hope James Jones knows this.
Listening to that suns jam session podcast with Flex, it sounds like the deadline for making a trade that he has alluded to has been set by Paul. Seems like he wants to know sooner rather than later if he should be looking at other options of where to go.
CP3 has the leverage here and Presti knows it. He's asking for the suns to morgatge their future for this, which he knows Chris Paul doesn't care about. I think Presti is banking on CP3 to pressure James Jones into making a trade to get him to the suns, and the only offer Presti is willing to take is the one most advantageous to the Thunder.
I was good with this trade when it was possibly just Oubre and Rubio. The 10th pick in this draft had me on the fence. Cam is a no. That's not to say Cam is better than Paul, but you cannot throw you future out the window to that extent.

Sheesh. They're absolutely ravenous at the opportunity to add cap space and picks. This is why I'm hesitant about going so quickly for a Paul trade. We might be able to pull it a little more in our direction because they want those things so badly.

Even if the Suns still want him, if they were real poker players they would just give him the ok to look elsewhere. I still think OKC eventually would just take Oubre/Rubio if we hold firm. I think the only other deals out there involve worse contracts than those.
I guess Bledsoe's is similar (has an extra year but that's not guaranteed) https://www.spotrac.com/nba/milwaukee-bucks/eric-bledsoe-6900/
I wonder who most teams would prefer...Rubio or Bledsoe?
George Hill has two more years, but second isn't fully guaranteed. Those two contracts are not enough, but if you add Ilyasova you get there...though I don't know if he can be traded..this year isn't guaranteed. I don't know when that decision has to be made. I guess they can trade him before then. But does Paul want to play with the Bucks?
Bledsoe and Brook Lopez isn't enough either, but Brook has a big contract that goes on awhile anyway.

I hope all of this gets settled earlier in the week rather than later. I am far too distracted by all of it and I can't have it getting in the way of work haha

As a hypothetical if we were to inquire about Harden, what would it take?
I'm guessing as a starting point Ayton/Oubre/Rubio/picks? Or is Oubre's expiring in that scenario a no-go for Houston?
Just for funsies.

I'm sure they'd want Bridges in addition to that. I don't know how much value Oubre has. Because he's an UFA after this year so whoever trades for him is going to have to be willing to pay him what he wants or he may just sign elsewhere. Unless Houston just wants an expiring, but in that case, they'd want Bridges.
I wouldn't really want Harden. I think Booker would HATE playing with him anyway.

Me too...I have A LOT to do at work the next few days and wanted to wrap most everything up by the draft...would kind of suck though if I worked hard to wrap it up and we didn't have a pick.

I could definitely get behind Book + Harden if Harden played more like his early Houston/OKC days - he would still be the primary creator in that scenario but it would leave more room for Booker to get his opportunities instead of turning Book into a spot-up guy, or 2ndary iso option. We would have more off ball movement than Houston in that scenario. Harden has shored up his defense a fair bit and would have even more energy for defense too if he went back to averaging 25/7 or 27/7, or whatever.

Is there a way this deal gets done with two separate trades?
One with Rubio, cam and future picks going to OKC for CP3.
Oubre to somewhere like GS? Oubre and 10 for number 2?

Re: 2020 Season/Offseason (FA/Trade) Speculation - CPfree or CPexpensive?
Presti is just too much.
Like seriously, we have heard that he has no interest in keeping Oubre or Rubio (So he doesnt value them as assets) and doesnt want to take back non-expiring contracts. And yes he wants Cam and/or the #10 pick in the draft for CP3.
And yet here he trades Schroder (an expiring) for Green (an expiring) and a late 1st round pick, yet that still isnt enough, he doesnt even want Green's expiring on his team and now they have to search for a 3rd team to complete the trade.
Something tells me on both these trades he isnt doing a damn thing and just sitting back with his feet on his desk making the other teams (Lakers and Us) do all the work of finding other teams and making proposals to bring back to him for his yey or ney.
Thats pretty savage.

I read rumblings of ATL wanting Oubre and were possibly willing to straight up absorb him with their capspace and they would be willing to move back from #6 to #10. Now that was mostly from rumors of the Hawks wanting an established player and willing to move back to get one and fansites talking about how Oubre would be a great fit team wise, age wise, and stuff like that. Thats probably the best offer i have really seen put out there for Oubre. But we would still need to find a 3rd team for the OKC deal to take Rubio and send an appropriate expiring (Since new info on the LAL deal shows they are now picky about their expiring's). Really wish we could just approach ORL and them accept Rubio for Fournier and their #15 pick (Which both of those could go to OKC). That would cover the expiring and the compensation (The #15 Pick), allowing us to keep Cam and also adding the #6 pick to our squad. And to top it off since im a dick i would also ask for one of OKC's late firsts as a F.U to Presti for making this such a hassle.

I really hope Jones doesn't come out of this trade as the joke GM of the league like it starts to look more and more. Have some pride even if it hurts the ego of your star player.

We've all worried that now part of the trade will include El Hespiritu. We don't want to include him no matter what.

It's up on James Jonah Jameson... we Rubio's fanboys are bounded by a sacred oath.
If you trade RR, you trade us all together.
But for sure, I'll keep posting here no matter what... more or less depending what eventually happens.

True, we got the Woj report and a bunch of "reports" from people we hadn't even heard of a week ago.

No, Orlandos pick would be going to OKC in place of Cam or our pick. Thats the compensation they get. If people are right and they want either Cam or our pick, the #15 from Orlando isnt that far off from #10.
James Jones needs to slowly put on his sunglasses and tell Presti to "DEAL WITH IT".
