Whilst one team may of course value Banes higher due to potential fit or intangibles, Or perhaps even having a positional need addressed by that prospects specific trademark or elite attributes, Another team may of course have him much lower on their board, As that prospect isn't a necessity for varying reasons. And whilst in a normal draft, Such a consideration at the 10th pick would/ should be considered silly or unnecessary, This draft is relatively devoid of high end talent, And many prospects in the 9-20 range have by consensus opinion been found to be quite similiar in terms of upside and potential outcome or impact. So a prospect such as Bane, With a strong frame, high basketball IQ, High motor and work ethic, secondary play making ability, defensive switchability ( due to frame) And most importantly ELITE floor spacing ability, Would in this unique environment, have escalated value due to a higher floor. And also, A greater perceived view of being a reliable and consistent contributor, Due to his intangibles, And translatable skills. So in that respect, It really wouldn't be deemed to be as much of a reach.![]()
I do really like Tyler Bet though. And would agree on his ideal fit next to Ayton.
So you'd take who at if the usual suspects were gone? Kira Lewis? What 4 guys 10-13 do you have above him, assuming Vassell, Hayes, and the other guys projected in the top 9 go there? I guess maybe there are 10 and I'm not considering Patrick Williams, but lets throw Okoro out too.
Apologies man! I wasn't sure in the earlier post ( The back n' forth with Spin move), If that question was directed at me or Spin, Since He answered it first. But in response to tour question as yo which 4 prospects in the 10- 13 range I'd consider above Bane? This is a really tough question, Because I'm actually really high on Bane personally! But IF I were yo choose 4 prospects to take before him at 10, They'd probably be:
1- Kira Lewis.
2- Tyrell Terry.
3- Jalen Smith.
4- Precious Achiuwa.
And that would really only be IF we were considering all positions. But IF we're only considering backcourt options, There's really honestly only two prospects that I'd feel comfortable with taking over Bane in the 10- 13 range at this point. Those prospects being:
1- Kira Lewis.
Due to his elite speed/ penetration. Resulting in immense gravity for opposing defenses. Also because he already has a solid offensive foundation to his game.
2- Tyrell Terry.
Due to his Elite IQ, Elite shooting, better speed, And higher ultimate upside! Also his underrated playmaking too. So at this point to be clear, My adjusted big board for the 10th pick ( Top 5)
Would be:
1- Kira Lewis.
2- Tyrell Terry.
3- Desmond Bane.
4- Jalen Smith.
5- Precious Achiuwa.

OKC trading 25th+28th for 16th to secure Poku

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Prospect Watch
Best Mock Draft I've seen so far.
Those french guys are hilarious. Two of them compare their respective mocks here.

I'd sign a Cam 2.0 pick with my blood.
No idea who or what is a Tata Nicole, but I like the name.
'Tata' means 'daddy' for some Spanish and French slang. In Catalan means 'Auntie'.
We'd have Papi and Tata. We'd just need to add some Uncle (Jared Dudley) and some Mom (Crawford?)... we have the Valley Bros yet.
And Rubio's motto for Spanish national team is #Familia
Anyway... I have my favorite for this Draft:

If you understand this reference and you know what player I mean, then you're a person of culture.

FYI: Saadiq Bey's game looks like it will translate in the NBA to something like Solomon Hill mixed with Robert Covington. I don't think either one of those guys are good.

I've settled on wanting either Toppin or Vassell. Hoping Toppin falls to 10.

And that's perfectly fine man to see it that way.But as we all are aware, For each of these prospects, Success is highly situational, And dependent upon numerous factors. So it's really difficult for anyone to accurately prognosticate their individual outcomes obviously. What we do know though is that certain skillsets are absolutely translatable. One of those of course being elite shooting. As in what Saddiq is known for. Another for example would be elite penetration and scoring around the rim ( efficiency), Vertical gravity, Which would pull defenses into the paint and thusly create more open looks for our shooters. As in what Riller (for example)is known for. Others being Tyler Bey ( Elite rebounding) and positional defense, And Elite rim protection and rebounding which is what Jalen Smith is known for.
You see, Once you get past the idea that there aren't any star prospects in this draft, But still high level role players ( we already have our star core players in Booker/ Ayton/ Paul possibly)? Then you can recognize the intrinsic value of acquiring potential high level role players and 3 and D glue guys to support our core, As well as offer low cost positional depth. In doing this with rookie scale contracts, It allows us to appropriate much more of our cap space to adding higher caliber impact veterans ( age/ experience) to our roster in free agency, Rather than having to distribute it over multiple positions for the purpose of depth.
But with respect to your original concerns, These draft acquisitions to low cost bench depth. And would not at all have any tangible impact on the possibilities of us adding a good number of veteran depth acquisitions through free agency. Low cost / potentially high impact investments.

I think we go PG now with this trade.
Nader gives us some serviceable depth on the wing, and we'll probably nab a PF in free agency.
Expecting Kira to be our pick if he's available at #10.

I gotta say, I wouldn't at all be upset about that at all!

Neither one of you think Killian will be there? Also, Toppin wouldn't be a terrible pick at all lol and I'd still look at Vassell if both of those previous 2 guys are gone.

Wow, a Dirk Gently meme. I think I'll miss Rubio fans as much as I'll miss Rubio.

Unless something crazy and unexpected happens to turn the draft on its head, Wherein the Pistons take Pat Williams and the knicks take Kira Lewis, I don't see any way possible that Hayes falls to 10. Also, I'm sorry man! But I'm going to have to emphatically disagree with you on Toppin at 10. He'd be an amazing pick for us IF he somehow miraculously fell to us at 10. That being said, There's likely at best a 10 percent chance ( and that's being generous) that Toppin falls out of the top 5 of the draft. I do agree with you However, But I'm going to agree with you that I'd be very pleased with Vassell at 10 for our needs.
However, I'm going to go on record as saying that I fully expect the Suns to initiate a trade back scenario And very likely target Tyrell Terry with our primary pick, And then a front court player with the 2nd ( additional pick). Possibly Xavier Tillman or Tyler Bey? Plus pick up a veteran wing/ forward in the deal.

Interesting. So in your scenario that should make Haliburton available to us yes? That's just as good as Hayes imo. I personally don't think he falls past NYK. I'd happily take him if he's there. As to the trade down. If Toppin, Hayes, Haliburton and Vassell are all of the board I can be talked into a trade down- though if ALL of those dudes are gone than someone like a Deni or a Okgongwu might've dropped inexplicably.
