It won't happen but I would love to see Kyrie get traded to Houston. Put him with that terrible owner and rot in Houston. Sorry, not a fan!Spud2nique wrote:?s=20

I don't dislike Kyme as much as most, but if there ever was a player who deserved to be sent to an NBA purgatory it's him.

Tsunami Papi unfortunately will not be a Hawk this season. I know I speak for everyone here when I say: damn.

Re: Around the League News and Rumors (Non-Hawks) Part 2
Since it was reported that Westbrook wants out, the Hornets have emerged as the most likely team to land him. Front office sources tell me Michael Jordan wants the 2016-17 MVP, which is unsurprising and understandable. Westbrook would put eyes on televisions and fans in the seats (once they’re able to safely return). Charlotte would win more games, too. But those same sources add that the Hornets won’t put the no. 3 pick in Wednesday’s draft on the table for Westbrook, so the organization is clearly not overly zealous to make a deal.

And welcome back to the build for OKC, they just traded their two best players from last season, and I think they could not get better return for Paul because of his contract, but Schröder's return is a bit small, the guy was improving the OKC defense by 11pts on 100 possessions...

This just-developing Houston thing may be playing havoc with everyone's plans, with GMs holding out to see what happens there in case some new indirectly-related opportunities come out of it.

How they've been ran for years and with the owner they have I believe it's a good move. They must win and draw excitement.tbhawksfan1 wrote:PHX just made a terrible desperate win now move that I hope we never make
Some on the General Board are saying Phoenix didn't give up much but I think they gave up plenty.

Chris Haynes: San Antonio Spurs star DeMar DeRozan has informed the franchise that he is opting into his $27.7 million player option for the 2020-21 season, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/texas-sports-nation/brian-t-smith/article/Rockets-James-Harden-trade-brian-t-smith-column-15730491.php
But Harden wants to move on from the Rockets, the Chronicle has been informed, and is trying to force his way via trade to Brooklyn, allowing The Beard to form the NBA’s next superteam and rejoin forces with former Oklahoma City teammate Kevin Durant.... Entering his 12th season, he’s suddenly trying to take the Durant route: Join a better team and win a world championship, immediately silencing all the critics and haters.
Who really knows, of course, but the more chaos like this going on, it seems it just makes being the team with the most cap space an exceptionally fortunate situation to be in, ie, able to help facilitate something that, in the end, benefits us more than anyone else.
Here's how the Rockets' Athletic beat writer closed his story just posted regarding the whole circus...
So, what now?
The accelerated nature of what has been a unique season and offseason only puts Houston in a tighter spot. Westbrook’s addition fundamentally changed how the Rockets operated from a schematic standpoint, being so committed to him that the team sent young center Capela away to afford Westbrook more space to operate.
Westbrook has essentially thrown his chips to the center of the table and wants a resolution before next season, but what direction would Houston go in? More importantly, what does Coach Silas want to do? Do they revert to the 2016-17 method, using Harden as the primary ballhandler, the season where he led the league in assists? Or do they scour the league for a suitable guard who can play next to Harden and still give the Rockets an elite 1-2 punch?
Jrue Holiday’s name sounds much more interesting and palatable now than it did a week ago, but expect Houston to be thorough and aggressive in resolving this situation. Silas and Stone both said they were ready during their introductory press conference. Now, the ball is in their court.

This merits a big 'ol.... daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngg.
Good news is that OKC might not be predisposed to trying to lose in 2022 after all, given their draft pick wealth.

Pretty amazing! For a small market team that's something to be excited about and this coming season they should be exciting to watch and will still possibly be a playoff team. They're losing more key players other than Chris Paul._s_t_u_r_t_ wrote:This merits a big 'ol.... daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngg.

Re: Around the League News and Rumors (Non-Hawks) Part 2
The Rockets are finalizing a deal to send Robert Covington to the Blazers for Trevor Ariza, the 16th pick in Wednesday's draft and another future first-round pick.
Covington would start at either small forward or power forward for the Blazers and would be a very nice get, while Ariza would return to the Rockets where he had some of his best years. We're still waiting for the dust to settle on this one, but it would appear that this deal would become final on Wednesday. He could hurt the fantasy appeal of Carmelo Anthony in Portland after averaging 11.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.6 steals, 2.2 blocks and 2.4 3-pointers in Houston last season.

Except that BKN and MIL are not in the same situation, they're not so desperate to show their star(s) they have to improve the team.
But they now have to evaluate their chances of beating the new MIL roster...
