Brown has a team option for the upcoming season. Salary dump?

Brown is a much better player at this point of their careers. Great move for the Nets.

PG is probably Brown's best position, this move is probably setting up for a potential Dinwiddie/Levert trade.

I wouldn't think so, hes too good to dump. But I wouldn't be surprised if he was included in a subsequent deal before the season starts.

A minimum contract like Brown has does not affect an incoming teams salary equation in a trade, but it does count toward the outgoing salary equation with the 125% rule. It's possible that Houston wants him, but mechanically the deal that we have doesn't work with Musa's non-minimum salary.

Reading the tea leaves, it sounds like we are preparing to drop salary in a trade. Does that mean our dream of signing ibaka to the mle, and therefore being hard capped, is coming to fruition? If anyone can do it, it's Marks.

The biggest indicator will be if Kurucs is moved in a similar deal for a small valued contract.

I wish Musa the best and I hope that he can figure out his NBA niche in Detroit.

Brown adds some needed defense in the backcourt.

Musa's a hard worker and a good guy but this was a done deal when he couldn't contribute at all this year after all of our injuries. We badly needed him to give us a spark. Specifically when our bench was Pinson + Shump and especially in the bubble.

On the bright side for him, his defense was a lot better than I expected. His jump shot is gonna need to get a lot better if he wants to stick in the league after his rookie contract.

Brown looks like a good athlete and defender. Definitely a guy we need regardless of whatever trades follow this.

[tweet]Adrian Wojnarowski: The Nets are sending the 2021 second-round pick via Toronto, per sources. Musa was the 29th overall pick in the 2018 Draft, a versatile 6-9 forward. Nets like Brown’s defensive ability, honed in University of Miami program.[/tweet]

Also, I believe Browns contract is guaranteed if he was not waived by a certain date.

That makes sense. One site I checked stated that there is a team option and another said it's non-guaranteed.

While it's good to add wing defenders to this team, this could very well just be a move just to clear some cap space.

Love this trade. Love Brown. Exact kind of bench player this team needs. Hard nosed guy who can do a little bit of everything and bring some energy off the bench. He is a poor mans Ginobli (maybe very poor mans, but considering they gave up nothing for him it's a great move).

i doubt it. musa makes so little he is easy to dump in a bigger deal without attaching a pick. i think they probabluy want low cost defenders

I remember him giving us problems in one of those games last year.

Yep, I remember too. That's why I'm pretty excited about this deal. The guy has the dog in him.

This isn't a cost cutting move, Brown actually fits really well here, and is the type of player we need.

Pistons fan here: Bruce Brown is a guy that every team hopes to have. He can backup PG - SG and even defend some SF. Plays at 100%.

As you can see from the highlights, he can even have excellent games. For 2 million its a steal. He has won some games for the Pistons in the past from defense, hustle and heart.

He can't shoot. But he does everything else.
