Kevin O' Connor said on the Ringer podcast that the #7 pick next year could be better than any of the players drafted this year.

Yes we know.....we’ve heard it a thousand times. It’s why we aren’t dealing that Minny pick unless something like Giannis rolls around.

Re: 2020 Draft Thread, Part 2
Who is going to be the 7th pick next year? Garuba? Scottie Barnes? Terrance Clarke? I highly doubt they will be better than the top 3 in this year
Now the 7th pick in 2022 is a different story

Re: 2020 Draft Thread, Part 2
pre-draft ratings of entire draft classes are dumb. It's literally all based on the first 1 or 2 picks. If there isn't Lebron or Zion & Morant they go "hurr durr weak draft class!" Everyone says this is a weak draft because the top 3 aren't great, but to me it's one of the deeper drafts from 1 to 15.

"The Warriors have continued to do their due diligence by traveling to watch Edwards work out for a second time in recent days after an initially underwhelming first viewing," Givony writes.

Warriors keeping everybody guessing and doing their due diligence.

Are the warriors trading with the Hornets, Chicago or OKC?

Yeah I feel like this draft will surprise people in the future with how many sleepers there are.
In any normal draft, you get sleepers past the 9th pick like Klay, Kawhi, PG, Giannis, Butler, etc.
With this draft, the reduced scouting due to the pandemic is going to result in more players getting slept on and overlooked going into the draft.

Warriors will not trade this pick until after the selection is made. This will free them up to trade both their pick next year and the Minny pick.

Technically this isn’t necessary. You can’t trade all your first rounders for 2 future years. As long as the Warriors don’t trade their own 2021 pick before this draft, they can trade the 2020 pick now, and after this draft is over they could trade the 2021 #1 pick and Minny’s pick.
It’s confusing, because the restriction is about 2 consecutive future years only, and doesn’t apply to a past year (including a draft that may have just concluded). Once a draft is over, all that matters is the upcoming years, and whether you had a pick in the current year becomes irrelevant.
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

as the lakers seem to be proving, that rule is trash. after trading last year's pick to NO, they're dealing this year's pick to OKC. They're getting around that rule by drafting at 28 and trading the drafted player, not the pick.

Yeah, but to be clear, the reason they have to make the pick this year is because they also traded next year’s first-rounder (albeit protected) to New Orleans to get AD. If it weren’t for that, they’d have no problem trading this year’s pick, despite having traded last year’s pick.

Anyone watch Stanley from Duke? How is his defense?
We all know if available OKC is gonna take Hampton and Stanley. But asking in the event they trade up or theres a better athlete out there that they take instead.

The rule is about trading away too much of a teams future. If they are drafting a player then trading him it's not really in the future.

Really good defender and outstanding athlete. Budding offensive game. I actually like him more than Maxey.
