Harden-watch 2020

Post#1 » by Prokorov » Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:31 pm

A name like Harden linked to us needs its own thread, especially with a Woj bomb confirming its plausible/there is real interest. Here are some specifics:

Read on Twitter

Salary: Harden's Salary for a trade is $40,824,000. The Harden can not make more then 125% of what is coming back to the rockets. so the nets would need to send out $34,259200 in any deal as both teams are over the cap.

Harden: $40,824,000

Dinwiddie - $11,400,000
Levert - $16,203,705
Jordan - $10,375,678
Prince - $13,942,308
Allen - $3,909,902

Any 3 player combo out of Dinwiddie, levert, prince, jordan makes it work salary wise. If the Nets are taking back a key name other then harden they would also need to match salares. here is what we would need to send back salary wise to take on:

Harden + Covington - $43,309,576 (Dinwiddie/Prince/Levert/Allen works)
Harden + Tucker - $39,304,829
Harden + Rivers - $34,554,930
Harden + Nwaba ( :D ) - $33, 724,886

DeAndre Jordan is not going to get traded, Prok. You know this bro  KD and Kyrie will kill Marks if that happens.

Prince, LeVert, Dinwiddie and Allen are the package plus picks. That's about 46 mil out going.

If we can land PJ Tucker along with Harden, that will be a coup.

Looks like Harden is set on leaving.

Westbrook is already on his way out. Houston may want to avoid the circus and just trade him now.

The longer they wait the less value they get back. Next season he will be an expiring too.

The only other team that I could see getting him is Philly. But if I'm Philly do I want to trade Simmons for Harden when he could just leave in a few years?

If Harden makes it clear to Philly that he doesn't want to be there then why would they do it?

That's not good news for us at all, Harden ending up in Philly is one of the worst possible scenarios for us.

That's what I've been saying. Trading for him would be awesome for us, and it's just as important to keep him from our rivals. We can play footsie with the idea of acquiring Harden, but we'd look real dumb if we didn't make a competitive offer for him and he ended up a real thorn in our side playing for Toronto, Philly or Miami.

While momentum is on our side, Sean, throw everything you have into making this deal.

The Philly mention pretty much makes this a pipedream. Might as well lock this thread.

Philly has a few things working against it:

1. Relationship between Morey and the Rockets owner isn't good
2. They're not putting Simmons on the table IMO
3. With Embiid, their future picks aren't as valuable as ours
4. Their non-star pieces are pretty bad.

If they're willing to put Simmons on the table - they could probably get damn near anyone in the league. I don't think that's realistic. He's super young starting a 5 year contract with a lot of room to improve and Philly has made his life difficult by surrounding him with non-shooters.

If Philly doesn't want to move Simmons in a deal for Harden, do they actually have a more competitive offer than us?

It really comes down to if they want to move Simmons or not. If I'm Morey, I feel like I move Simmons to his more natural position of PF and look to keep building around him and Embiid. But who knows?

Other than Philly, I don't think other contenders are giving them more attractive offers honestly. Maybe Boston can, but they've always been gun shy about trading their young talent and picks.

Giving up DWid, LeVert and Allen seems like a great way to gut valuable depth at the 1 and 5 slots while creating a huge logjam in terms of handling the ball. I get that one or two of them probably need to be traded within the year, but I hope it will moreso be for 'gems in the rough' players that Marks is so good at finding, not swinging for the fences on a potentially disastrous fit like this.

Also, Harden's game of overdribbling and creating fouls late in the shot clock seem completely contradictory to the way Nash said he planned to run the offense.

I get that The Beard may be interested in teams like the Nets for good reason, but I don't see why the Nets shouldn't be highly skeptical of the fit and the number of core pieces (and picks?) we'd have to give up.

probably not, but i mean if thats what it took KD/Kyrie would sign off on it. Kyrie pushed for temple and he may be renounced. Harden changes it all. you dont keep the ok guy you like around if it prevents the hall of fame friend from coming in

in any event, i put him on here mostly because his salary is one of few we have that works

i think its THE worst scenario. Harden in philly with that cast is a title level team. as of now, philly is a big pretender.

fit is only a problem when you are talking about good players. with elite players, the talent wins out 9 times out of 10. "too many hallf of famers who play a similar role" is never an issue. We would be the best offense in the league, isntantly, even if its gross basketball with guys taking turns iso and dribbling the air out of the ball.

you are talking about three 60 TS 50/40/90 30 ppg scorer type players.

yes you gut the team of rotational role players for that in a heartbeat. hell dinwiddie and levert are basically harden only not 1/1000 as good.

Kyrie/Harden/Jordan all on the floor together. weve also seen KD/Harden/Jordan in olympic play and KD/Kyrie/Jordan

Joe Harris also an olympic team member and fits with anyone.

We would be a jaugernaut offensively. no team has 3 all-NBA G/W defenders and no 3rd fiddle can defend one of kyrie/harden/duran with the court spaced.

Interestingly, Woj is only pushing Harden to Nets, with no mention of Sixers:

Woj also changed his tune from yesterday to today. Yesterday he said that Nets were "resonating" with Harden, tonight he's flat out saying that Harden is focused on getting to Brooklyn.
