Ricky Rubio

You gotta feel for this guy.

He goes to Utah and they replace him with Mike Conley Jr and actually get worse.

He goes to Phoenix and they replace him with a Hall of Famer in CP3.

Maybe the best choice is to bring Ricky Rubio home.

Trade 17 and James Johnson to OKC for Rubio.

Trade 1 to Hornets for 3, 32, and Miles Bridges. Draft Onyeka at 3.

Better to wait too see where this Harden episode is going to end up. And consequently Ben Simmons.
But if we cant get a guy like Ben, i think Rubio and DLO combo would make a ton of sense.

Like i said, defense, playmaking and shooting between the 2.
For the right price of course...

17 and James Johnson for 25 and Rubio. Maybe adding the 33...

I’d take Ricky back, but I’m not going to give up a pick for him.

What about Johnson and 33 for Ricky Rubio

We keep the 17.

Yes please.

Honestly, it seems like the team has had way less heart since he was traded.

My favorite Timberwolves player of all time*.

If they took Wiseman and brought Rubio back... I would be around here a lot more this season.

I will always like Ricky. His $17 mil this year is fine, but his $17.8 mil next year Is problematic, when everyone wants cap space.

We would also need to find a solution to our PF hole that doesn’t necessitate trading Johnson’s expiring deal.

Tough choice.

That’s what trading the 1 to Hornets for them to take Wiseman and we can take a defensive minded 4 in Onyeka Okongwu at 3.

Yeah, this is more or less my thought process regarding this choice.

In a vacuum I'd love Ricky back, great character and a pretty good player who I think would mesh relatively well with what we're doing, whilst adding a solid vet.

However, whilst his contract is short he is on more money than I'd really like to be paying him, which would also likely lead to us needing to include JJ, thus limiting our options to strengthen in a greater area of need.

Any big external improvement we make (outside of the draft) is likely going to be directly linked to JJ's contract, so we need to tread carefully there IMO.

I'm going to vote no even though I love Ricky.
I think with his shooting/finishing issues he doesn't fit as a lead guard,
even though he could help a lot with leadership and getting guys into the right spot, especially on defense.

The extra year on the contract is kind of hard to swallow.
I might swap Johnson's expiring for him at most. I certainly wouldn't send out draft picks for him.
If he was on a neutral contract, I'd seriously consider it. But he's not.

I would take him back in a heart beat, but we'd need a SF or PF that can be an above average shooter as well..Ricky arguably had his best season as well; 13/8/5 on 41%fg 36%3pt 86% ft

My question is, can he be traded already after being acquired by OKC this soon? most i'd do if we had to include Johnson's expiring is our 2nd round pick.

Johnson + 33 for Ricky but there are probably better offers out there for him..so it's unlikely we'd get him back unless we give 17 for him (or maybe we pick swap with their late 1st?)

Would be classic to have RR return, but I agree it would need to be a pretty team friendly deal. Not sure OKC sees him staying 2020-2021.

Until the Chris Paul trade is registered by the NBA front office, it can be modified.

Would a Rubio/Oubre plus a bunch of future firsts for Minnesota's #1 be something worthwhile?

I doubt it. MIN needs upside, because star free agents aren’t coming to Minnesota in the foreseeable future. OKC has a lot of picks, but most of them are likely non-lotto. Rubio and Oubre are good complimentary vets, but they aren’t going to be stars either. I think MIN needs to swing for the fences.

Yep the best value Okc has is their own future picks lol
