Would I have done this? I dunno. I like this draft a lot more than most. But, finally the Blazers aren't effing around with more projects and are serious about getting Lillard some tough, reliable vets.

Now, go get one more please.

Please don't tell Olshey we have a playable forward on our team. He might panic and trade Covington for Ish Smith + Thomas Bryant. You can *never* have enough centers and undersized guards on your roster.

Finally a move for a forward in his prime that can defend and is not trash.

Added bonus of no more AG and Oubre trades.

Trust me as a Mavs fan I understand. We want all players to be 7'3" or roughly Barea-sized. Wings? Big forwards? What are these modern conventions?

They'll complete thsillye trade after the draft, so portland will pick for Houston then trade that guy and next year's first for Covington

Seems like a silly way to get around the Stepien rule but its a solid trade for Portland. Portland seems to be
enamored with Jay Scrubb who was at best a SRP in most drafts and might have taken him at 16, but now
can take him with their second round pick. Covington will be a solid reinforcement for Portland's
thin front court

With the current roster, I'll take this rather than chance the next Little/Simons who aren't ready to contribute.

It's not though. The point of the rule isn't to force you to draft and keep players its to keep your from wrecking your franchise. Problem is pick swaps is a work around and so Billy King was still able to wreck the Nets.

But you could deal literally every 1st rounder and its totally fine you just can't do it all at once.

So glad to see Olshey go for it! Two firsts seem like a lot but also gotta consider his contract which has two more yrs and is relatively cheap at 12 mil and a bit per

Yey, Houston got Ariza back... I guess Houston will really trade Harden and completely rebuild now with whatever picks left.

Portland killed it.

Two 1sts seem like a lot until you look at the roster and see Trent, Collins, Simons, Little, Gabriel, etc. Then you look at prime Dame/Nurk/CJ and play to... Win later?

Now if Oubre could have been had for just a future 1st, you can make an argument that would have been a smarter play. But if Portland can land Flynn or Pritchard in the second round, they killed it pre-free agency.
Because love can burn like a cigarette.
And leave you left with nothing.
Leave you left with nothing.

I love this trade for both sides. Houston starts a pseudo-rebuild off right and Portland gets a big combo forward. The west is getting scary. I hate this as a Kings fan, but I love this as a Dame fan. This looks like a team that could potentially make a run at the title if Melo re-signs.

Portland still has the full MLE as well to add another SF/PF.

Damn, I almost had this right. I do think Ariza/#16/2022 2nd was better for Portland.
