Because he has no incentive to extend now rather than later.

If he extends he’s just an idiot. Why would you extend before you even see what your team looks like this year?

Lopez is 32
Matthews is 34
Middleton is 29
Holiday is 30

You could argue all 4’s best season is behind them. On the bench only Divencenzo is young and slightly promising.

I don’t know. Even if the Bucks have a successful season I’d be hesitant if I was Giannis to sign up for 5 years when literally his entire current roster could be retired before his deal is up

Matthews won’t be back so Holiday and Middleton are in their primes at 29 and 30 and Lopez at 32 at center is still young. They kept Donte which is key. They still got room to make some more moves too.

Most nba player peak at about age 27-29ish. 32 at centre for a slow trodding centre certainly isn’t young either lol.

They also don’t have any room. By my count they are 113 million so they’ll have some small exceptions, but nothing major. As of now they have like 6 or 7 guys who ar capable of playing NBA minutes, and with 5 of them being North of 30 you can bet one will fall off quickly

Man I like Jrue and have been beating the drum that he’s underrated and would be a great value get because his skill set and ability to be an elite 3rd option who can play either guard position. Wanted the Warriors to get him instead of going for a Giannis type but that’s a decent haul. Yeah Getting rid of Bledsoe is a good thing but I don’t think he’ll be a major hindrance to the Pels and that’s a lot of picks. Wouldn’t have given up that value for him, but good fit with the Bucks.

What a crazy overpay for a better version of Bledsoe. That's it!

Holiday is also a big injury risk. Played 70 games once since 2012.

This trade is much more about the fit upgrade than the talent upgrade. And on paper, it's a significantly better fit. I'm not so sure that's worth what the Bucks gave up either, but I'm definitely excited to see what Jrue can do in a top defense and offense.

I think Jrue is the better fit and the better player, the amount of picks are the only doubts on my mind.

Hey, if it gets Giannis to stay, then ofc it's worth it. But thats what it would take, because on paper/on court, i dont see it as a huge upgrade. Hill is not a nothing loss either

the draft capital alone has got to put the winners as NOP, but I don't fault the Bucks for doing this. You can't roll into the 21' playoffs with Bledsoe. Fortune favors the bold, so I like it in that respect. I'll give NOP an A and Bucks an B+. Lots of picks, but you also can't do nothing with Giannis' impending decision.

Grading this trade depends entirely on what Giannis does lol... If he walks then we're going to be in the gutter for years whether we have picks or not. Take whatever risks you need to keep the best player this team has had in about 50 years.

Also no Bucks fans have been defending Bledsoe the past two years. What world are you living on?

So hold up Holiday who got 1yr on his deal just got traded for an all-defensive player + the best (statistically) 3pt shooter from last season + 3 first round picks + 2 swaps...

Meanwhile Nets fans think a couple of role players + a couple of first rounders will land them Harden??? LOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

Why not trade for CP3 when he was available? He’s just as good and costs way less to get.

I disagree, Jrue could absolutely put them over the top. They already were not far off. Plus this move likely also guarantees that Giannis is staying.

Pel's should turn around and try and flip Hill for Zubac. Keep gutting desperate teams

Lol the high water mark isn't a guy's norm. That's an idealized version of Jrue that hasn't shown up since.

cause pelicans havent been in playoff since?

Partly because Jrue is hella of a mediocre "star" in the regular season. Poor shooter and below league average efficiency scoring every year of his career.

Good player but not significantly better than Bledsoe, if at all.

Should’ve stood pat lost Giannis and got **** on instead, at least that’s what I’m reading on here

You’re right. He missed 200+ nba games in his career from non injury reasons.

Neither Hill or Bledsoe are creators, Jrue is. Also he’s not a bad defender. This move is going to make them much better. They need to get Lopez back on board though.

Heading over to the trade board right now for some laughs. Nets fans probably proposing Dinwiddie, Lavert and 2nd rounder for Harden.
