I know that other pieces were involved but three 1sts for Holiday and two 1sts for Covington seem like big overpays.

I know that Milwaukee and Portland are desperate to keep their stars happy but that seems like a hefty price to pay for those guys. The fit seems right though in both cases.

The NBA always delivers on offseason drama and this is just the tip of the iceberg with such an abbreviated trade/free agency period. You gotta love it

I think the Bucks overpaid a little, but considering the situation, they're in with needing to appease Giannis they pretty much had to make a move. Then considering Drew Bledsoe has been ass against good teams it was an easy decision to go for a PG like Jrue. The problem is this move has the chance to be catastrophic for the Bucks and I'm pretty sure NOLA made the trade with that in mind.
I don't think this trade puts them over the top at all tbh. Their bench is weak af and Giannis still has to grow so much as a player before they're legit in the halfcourt. But a starting line up of

Jrue
DDV?
Midds
Giannis
Brook

Is a hell of a starting line up and they'll be able to score and defend with the best of em in the regular season.

Who cares about giving up 3 first round picks if they’re not in the lottery?

The Bucks aren’t a free agent destination so they have to take risks to add talent around Giannis. It’s a bold move that you have to applaud because Holliday improves them a lot. Anybody who thinks he’s only marginally better than Bledsoe doesn’t understand what they’re watching— especially considering the disappearing act that Bledsoe does every year in the playoffs. Everyone knew they had to move him. Plus Holliday has + intangibles and character. And he’s a very good and willing defender.

Seems like fans of Bucks opponents want to downgrade the trade but it’s a clear winner if they both re-sign. You gotta take chances in life to reach difficult peaks. Great move Milwaukee

If Giannis stays because of this, then I believe its worth it. Bucks get a positional upgrade and Giannis.

Signing an extension means nothing nowadays. Players can still request to get traded if it all falls apart, ala Harden, AD.

There's sooooooo much pressure on the Bucks this season. If they get bounced again in the playoffs, ohhh boy.

I really think the Bucks needed a goto end of the game scorer to win a ship... but I guess this is the Greek Freak betting on himself that he can become that.

If he could develop a jumper and become a closer than this is all he needs to win. If not then Jrue is an upgrade but not in the area they need to win.

I read the Bucks gave up three future first round picks.
This fills a huge void for Milwaukee.

Still need a backup PG, would love bogdon and a 3/4 type guy who play in a giannis at center lineup. If they could just get bogdon now somehow that would make me feel way better. You onyl need 8. THe bucks bench was trash during the playoffs when it mattered.

George Hill was always trash for the Pacers in the playoffs.

Milwaukee basically consolidated a good guard and a mediocre guard into a very good guard. The speculation on these boards constantly puts Jrue's value at a high lottery pick so if Milwaukee ends up giving three late 1sts then so be it.

On the other hand the downside is clear and it could blow up in Milwaukee's face. I hope that doesn't happen but even if it does I think the Bucks could still maintain a 6-8 seed in the east with Middleton and Jrue. So it might become one late pick and a couple in the late teens if things go south. Again, that's not an overpay for Jrue.

I'm assuming Bucks have an agreement with Giannis for an extension prior to doing this. Holiday is a massive upgrade over Bledsoe and Hill.

In reality with Giannis there, all those picks will pretty much be 2nd round picks. Giannis will lead you to 55+ wins each year and a top record in the league which will lead to pick 25 - 30. The pick swaps probably won't happen either.

If he leaves then it might be one of the worst trades in NBA history.

if giannis could be a closer then last year's or the year before's team win a chip.

Yeah not a lot has changed in Milwaukee. They’ve now lost depth with Hill and Matthews, lost all trade capital for future potential deals, and added a guy who does everything Bledsoe did but a bit better, but also who has the exact same weaknesses.

Come playoff time you’re gonna sag off everyone except Middleton from 3, and pack the paint and force Giannis to be a jump shooter. They desperately need a guy to run PnR with Giannis whose even a slight threat to kill you in the step in 3

That's one heck of a draft pick haul by the Pels.

But Holiday is a solid upgrade over Bledsoe.
