Like, there's no way that any other team was coming close to this kind of offer for Jrue. Unless I'm missing some rumors from the other teams that were linked to him, this is a classic "bid against yourself" move.
But yes, if this is the move that means Giannis signs on the dotted line, then sure, it's the right choice. That doesn't change that we basically gave up the Paul George/Anthony Davis trade package for like, the 31st best player in the league.

Re: Bucks acquire Jrue Holiday
It's hard to see the Chris Paul and Jrue Holiday returns and not say the Bucks got absolutely raked over the coals. If Giannis is pulling the strings to get the player he wants, then god bless, as him signing is the most important thing.
But still worries me that the FO had to resort to backing up the brink truck for Jrue, who I like well enough but just don't see how he's going to put the team over the op. Will wait till final details are out and have to let the rest of the off-season play out.

But when we are in the postseason. It's equivalent to trading a D leaguer who's really good at defense for Magic Johnson.
I don't think it's an exaggeration to say we probably have 1 or 2 championships right now if Bledsoe plays well or at least adequate in the postseason.
Bledsoe's bed wetting in the postseason can't be overstated.

For sure but anecdotal feedback has all pointed to him signing long term if management kept trying to build a championship roster. Drafting three times in the late twenties wasn’t going to keep him here.
Horst if nothing else has balls. I’m going to guess Giannis was informed on this one. And I am going to guess he liked it vs acquiring Dennis or Chris

I'm choosing to view this as a Jrue + Giannis signs the supermax deal and will either be relieved that I'm right or have a nuclear meltdown on here in a couple weeks

I missed our SGA/Ingram in the deal. Those guys might be worth those picks alone.

Re: Bucks acquire Jrue Holiday
I for one like the deal. Holiday is an upgrade to Bledsoe and as much as I loved George we can find a replacement, potentially Patty Mills or the like?
The first round picks are meaningless if Giannis stays as they basically will be glorified 2nd rounders. Windhorst reporting tonight that there is warmth growing on the full supermax incoming.
Get ready to party soon Milwaukee

You'll see excitement when the ink is on the paper. Once that happens this trade looks great.Chuck Diesel wrote:Guys, there is not a chance Giannis doesn’t sign now. You should only be feeling joy and excitement.
Till then though.....

Re: Bucks acquire Jrue Holiday
All you people having a meltdown because Holiday isn't a big enough name I've dug up some facts for you.
Real plus minus last year: Giannis 1, Middleton 15, Holiday 22, Lopez 29. That's 4/5 of our new starting lineup.
Playoff career stats: Holiday 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists on 39% 3PT FG.
Bledsoe 11 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists on 25% 3PT FG.
This is a massive upgrade for next year. Giannis must've given them the handshake agreement and probably Jrue as well. If they get Bogdanovic on top of this, I think we're finally making it to the finals boys.

Didn’t Covington go for two first? Maybe the market is just inflated this year.

I'll play devil's advocate here, Jrue hasn't played next to snow plow Giannis against the defenses we've seen.

Yea not sure why people are worried anymore. It was always a low chance of him leaving - this seals it 100%

Re: Bucks acquire Jrue Holiday
So we traded a Thon Maker, a DJ Wilson, and a Rashad Vaughn for Holiday? I'll take it.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.
Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Clippers didn’t care what they had to deal for PG13 since it meant Kawhi was coming as well.

Yeah. What a bad year to have to push it all in then.
You want to be able to invest counter-cyclically.

Yup. Bud not going to a Hill/Brogs backcourt sooner cost a championship in the Raps series.
