TWO first rounds picks for ROBERT COVINGTON?

What in the name of god?

Teams don't want the 1sts this year while trying to cut costs. This is why I am completely against a trade down.

Jrue cost #6 Nerlens Noel and #10 Efrid Payton(who was flipped for Dario Saric) to acquire from the Sixers the 1st time he was traded. Pretty much a similar cost now.

I bet Rockets blowing it up. Harden and Westbrook are getting traded.

They don't have a choice. Both of their star players want out and have made it known.

I could see Bulls trading for a vet like George Hill

Pels got a ton of talent and picks from the Lakers and the Hawks. You have to convert into actual top tier team players to make it mean something.

I'm curious if this the start of the breakup or a precursor to a bigger deal for the rockets.

I think they gave up a hell of a lot but if this get Giannis to sign the supermax, then it's worth it and those picks won't amount to much. The Bucks though, even with Giannis, can't do much with a huge payroll and no assets. This is there win now moment and I don't think Holiday puts you over the top.

Terrible trade, but I feel like MIL just keeps burying its grave with these contracts and trades. Gonna be a 1-season buffer before **** hits the fan even more than before. Can I get the Bucks GM job? I like Jrue, but he was never enough of a second-fiddle for AD to even consider staying in NOP.

Meanwhile, HOU is swinging the wrecking ball, but what's their plan? OKC has swap-rights for 21 and 23. If their Harden payout is the BRK deal, they're in very bad shape. If they can get something done with PHI (for Simmons), then they have something to look forward to, albeit a worse team with no contending hopes

It's funny - usually FA signings are where all the bone-headedness happens, but alas, NBA FOs had to find a new way to screw their franchises. With desperation trades.

They are both under contract for the next 2 years. They don't have to trade them. Tilman is pretty stubborn.

I'll assume the 21' pick is top 20 protected. #16 for RC is a no brainer.

Players like Covington are very valuable. He is an elite 3&D player. This trade makes Portland much better.

Milwaukee's picks are low anyway and they haven't done much with them recently so they need the player more than they need the picks.
Could come back to haunt them but a Giannis, Jrue and Middleton trio is better than what they've previously had and might give them some more edge in the playoffs.

We've seen how it goes when player's want out and then don't get it. It never ends well.

I'd have rather gone for CP3 than trade so many picks for Jrue. CP3 is better at this point and fills a role.

Meh, Jimmy threw his fit because they wouldn't pay him and KAT and Wiggins were lazy. Harden and Westbrook are on supermaxes and run the team. Unless they get a ransom for Harden, I don't see why they'd move him now. Westbrook isn't getting any value, so he's kinda stuck.

Jrue is younger, can play both guard spots and cheaper contract wise.

It does. I like them a lot next season if they stay healthy.
