The AD trade keeps looking better and better

Highway robbery at this point. 3 frp and 2 swaps for a Holiday rental?! LMAO

Lakers started the trend of 3 frps + 2 pick swaps...and got a top 10 player(at that time) in AD.

Now every GM is gonna follow suit even for borderline all-star trades.

I see the majority hating this trade for the Bucks. If you were Griff would you go another route? Like you said I see the appeal of both sides.

In my opinion, I probably would've gone a different direction. I wouldve probably focused on something around Myles Turner. It probably wouldve required a 3rd team, but I feel like the Pels probably couldve gotten Turner and a late or heavily protected 1st in return for Jrue. Im kind of more into the build your team now view point though, since I believe the Pels should believe they have their #1 and #2 guys, time to start building around them now. I think if you could draw up the ideal 5 to go next to Zion, its Turner. An elite defensive 5 that can stretch the floor. I then wouldve tried to flip Hayes (I think he has no future alongside Zion) for a young shooter like a Kennard or something.

I get the idea of asset collection. Its a little far down the road in my opinion (Im assuming we are talking 2024 and 2026 picks). But again I get the idea of the HR potential if Giannis leaves. So Im sure Griff looked at it as, we can have the next Boston/Nets deal, or worst case we have major asset collection. I get both that point of view, even though its probably not the route I wouldve chosen.

It's looking like the Bucks are gonna win the deal once the Boggy S&T is finalized. Giannis should resign also. I bet griffin regretting it somewhat if better offers were on the table.

Yup. Was just going to say this. Again I get the idea of swinging for the fences with a reasonable fallback option. But ya now that Bogdan is going to the Bucks, I see a very small chance that Giannis doesn't resign. They freaking brought in Jrue and Bogdan without having to give up Middleton, hell of a move by them.

Lots of okay values spread out over 6 years isnt really what I was expecting for a return for Jrue. Who knows maybe they can flip some of these new assets to get someone. Really hope Griffin doesnt decide to sit on all of these assets.

Bledsoe is the odd fit, terrible shooter that can't be the playmaker. Lonzo played better without Jrue now I imagine he will do the same without Bledsoe

I honestly didnt see how they could do it. But they pulled it off. If Giannis doesnt resign, there is nothign the Bucks couldve done to get him to resign. I mean congrats to the Bucks, their front office hit it out of the park tonight.

When it comes to Griff, I respect the attempt and I totally get the try, but the potential (which Im sure is the main reason they took this offer) dried up pretty damn quick haha.

Ya I will be kind of shocked if Bledsoe is there come the start of the season. Bledsoe is the odd fit, with Jrue gone, its time to officially hand the keys to the young trio. The other guard spot needs to go to a sharp shooting guard.

I think this trade is not as bad as people are making it out to be, assuming Giannis stays. These Milwaukee picks will almost all certainly be deep in the first round in the 25-30 range. Over the course of five drafts, what does that come out to? Maybe a Mitchell Robinson, a Landry Shamet, and then a Jordan Poole, a Jerome Robinson, and a Romeo Langford. Not really a big loss.

But the big danger is if he doesn't re-sign... its Billy King all over again. Maybe a junior version.

I respect and get it. But he fumbled this trade IMO. Jrue was their best trade asset and he got them Bledsoe and Hill. Like you said the "Potential" luster of the picks was gone in a matter of what? Maybe 2 hours?

I don't think you can protect consecutive picks and swaps since the fall back of those protection will fall on the next year's pick.

Yup. Agreed 100% and with HollowEarth, it was a gamble that didnt pay off. Haha yup in just about 2 hours it came pretty clear Griff shouldve taken the better guarantee return.

If Griff can flip Bledsoe/Hill and some of these picks into something quickly, I think he saves face pretty well. But ya as of right now looks like he got a bunch of dimes in return for his biggest trade piece (obviously not including Zion or Ingram). That doesnt look so great.

The deal is a massive overpay for Jrue. I like him as a player, but throwing 3 FRPs + 2 swaps for him is insanity. He's never won anything and at best, he's another Khris Middleton-type player.

With Bledsoe you have to find a team willing to take him. I’m sure the Bucks tried to do their due diligence with trades. The Pelicans likely won’t ask for much to unload his deal but who needs a PG like Bledsoe that bad?
