Haslem back again?? good or bad

Post#1 » by al bondiga » Sat Nov 14, 2020 9:19 pm

Let's face it, our coaching staff it's not the best in the world... a player-coach who can relate a bit to young people is a plus, even though he takes a much needed roster place and a guy's opportunity away... but, is there really anybody out there?

i think Heat can find other ways of paying Haslem and keeping him involved other than a token roster spot.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

Fifteenth spot on the roster goes to a player who doesn't play. Might as well have a great locker room presence and practice player. I'm sure after he took paycuts early in his career he's got a lifetime deal, until his body fails him.

Idk why we worry about Haslem when we barely found minutes for Silva, Okpala and Vincent.

There is no question here. Haslem back again is good. He is an excellent example of our culture and work ethic. He loves the team and contributes off-court.

The fact we can have 2 two-way players means this is a non-issue for me. Haslem will add more to the team than a guy who likely gets cut by next year anyway. Leadership matters, he'll earn his keep - it just won't be by his physical play. It's a weird situation, I get why people get a bit funny about it, but it's really no big deal for mine. UD is a Lifer.

I dont know why they gave him the 15th slot wherein he can have his money and as a voice for the team while he is serving as part of the coaching staff.

The NBA reimburses the Heat for most of his vet min salary and assistants don’t usually earn $2.5m in their first job. It’s been a deal for a few years now...

UD can earn his money as an assistant coach. Money wont be an issue for the Heat as they always have big payroll and tax payers most of the time, and they love UD.
The roster spot is the big issue in adding UD. Heat has now 13 players with Goran and Meyers coming back. The Heat need to use their MLE to upgrade and bring back Jae. That means Heat sacrifice Derrick Jones or a player they can develop in UD place.
