Jalen Smith would be a strong pick at 21. Same with Maledon

The guys I really want I think will still be lingering around by 34 so I wouldn't be opposed to shooting on an upside pick

Every passing minute I'm more certain we'll trade this #21 pick away.

Veteran or a package with Horford.
I think it would be the right move anyway: I can't see a big drop off between #21 and #34/#36

If not: Josh Green hoping he is going to develop a respectable J, could be a good option?

If we leave this draft with any of:

Devon Dotson
Tre Jones
Theo Maledon
RJ Hampton
Josh Green
Tyrell Terry
CJ Elleby
Killian Tillie
Skylar Mays
Myles Powell

I'll be satisfied. It's a pretty expansive list for the areas we're drafting. I just need one.

If no deals then we need a very strong draft to rebuild our depleted asset base. Need to hit on 3 contributors.

And if we're choosing with the 21st pick, for me, it's between whoever is left between RJ Hampton, Theo Maledon, and Devon Dotson.

I know I'm riding that train hard, but Dotson is one of the few players with elite athleticism, an extremely promising shooting profile, excellent success as the primary scorer, and still relatively young (just turned 21). His stats are similar to Collin Sexton (arguably better), who has a similar frame and a low college 3pt% (33% on 4 attempts per game, 31% on 4 attempts per game for Dotson). Sexton and Dotson had solid FT% in their draft year (78% for Sexton, 83% for Dotson) and Sexton is shooting 40% and 38% from three in his first two years in the league. I know these guys aren't machines and no two progressions are the same, but this projects well for Dotson to be a solid three point shooter in the NBA to pair with his excellent finishing ability and propensity to get fouls. He's probably above Theo Maledon and just below RJ Hampton on my big board for us but I'd be completely ok with grabbing him over Hampton too.

Hampton and Maledon are pure potential plays. Long, young, Hampton is extremely athletic, Maledon has a great shooting profile. I'm okay with us swinging for the fence on more unknown prospects at 21 who have a star profile.

According to Pompey, Terry recently spoke with Morey and Brand

I could get behind him as the pick. He's not my favorite, but the upside feels high with him. Hits a lot of the statistical points I like in a prospect.

I am genuinely curious how much (or little) Morey will have to do with this draft.

He’s literally been part of the organization for like 2 weeks. I have to think if we make our picks he’s relying solely on the scouts.

Actually a lot of interesting placement in Levin's big board. There are some guys that are ranked in absurd locations, but I align with a lot of his board.

Xavier Tillman appears underrated in mocks. His stats are insane.

Tankathon has us getting him at #36, which would be awesome.

Sam vecenie on one of the podcasts recently had us taking Xavier Tillman and Cassius Winston at 34 and 36, which would be a fun bench unit.

Why can't these idiots ever learn to keep their mouth shut? And clearly we're taking Joe at 21.

Isaiah Joe is such a boring pick to me. His upside is clearly a 3&D. There are guys at 21 who can become 3&D but their upside is star or even fringe star.

Just like the Matisse pick last year, I don't quite understand aiming so low. But at least with Matisse, he had the most absurd defensive production throughout his career at UW. Joe regressed when given more opportunities to score this year. He's 6'4.5 with a 6'7 wingspan. I'm not seeing the intrigue in the first.

I don't consider myself an expert on this stuff at all but I will (will not would because it's happening) hate this for the reasons you said. You can find guys ready to contribute in a specific role at 34 and 36. The guy at 21 should be upside play in my view.

Well this time in last year's draft, the prevailing thought from talking heads was Cam Johnson being the pick. Obviously he went absurdly high and might have been who we were targeting, but Thybulle was kinda peripherally of interest to us, if I'm recalling this correctly (which I fully acknowledge that I might not).
