P.S. wouldn't Teague have been just as good at less of a price?

Is Jrue Holiday underrated by fans because he plays in a small market? We just traded for two dudes from lesser known teams so to the average fan, it might seem like we far overpaid.

Somehow, I think Bud finds a way not to.

Given the success the Bucks have had with 2nd round picks I am not worried about losing the 1st rounders at all. Yes they are assets and what not...I'm talking simply from a draft standpoint.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

I woke up to a text from my mom saying they traded the whole team and I had no idea what she was talking about. Then I saw the Bogdan post in the Jrue thread LOL.

That's a big price. I like the guy and all, but we're now in Paul George/Westbrook/AD territory here.

Yep. A lot can change between now and when those picks come due. One of them could literally be a Shaq/Lebron type pick. I assume since they still owe the Cavs a future pick, the other picks have to be spaced WAY out every other year. I don't like this deal. Holiday hasn't shot the 3 well for years.

Do we actually know that? Have there been any tidbits on the protections that would allow for an completely unprotected pic? Are they automatically 1sts or will some be converted be converted to 2nds?

The swaps could could be pointless and the 3 firsts hopefully are 25-30. I get the against but to be against it is premature since a lot can happen with the details.

Can you imagine how ****y this feels for Eric Bledsoe? I bet he never thought of Jrue Holiday as three-first-round-picks better than him. We're talking about two guys who have the same player rating in NBA 2k21.

Still not sure I feel great about emptying out everything for a 30 year old.

I mean if things don't work they'll trade everyone including Giannis for a god damn haul.

There are still contingencies based on the pick they're sending to the Cavs. It's probably safe to assume that it will convey in 2021, but technically they're not allowed to assume that for the purposes of the trade. Therefore the Stepien Rule probably means it's a '23, '25, and '27 pick, unless I'm mistaken about how many picks are included. (Is it #24 plus 3 future picks, or just 3 future picks?) That's way past the time this supporting cast will be productive, and it might be well past Giannis's peak as well considering how much he relies on peak athleticism.

I don't think we know the exact protections, but it's hard to put too much protection on so many picks so far into the future because of how much the contingencies limit other trades. It could just be a '23 and '25 pick if pick #24 is one of the "future" picks in the reported deal. I'm not sure what people mean by future picks because some places are saying NOP got #24 but that's not really a "future" pick since the Bucks can't make the deal official until draft day due to the Stepien Rule.

I would certainly hope there is a lot of protection though. Now that I think about it, you're probably right. Holiday is not the type of guy you trade unprotected picks for, I would hope. He's certainly better than Bledsoe, but I'm not sure Holiday + Frank Mason is better than Bledsoe + Hill next year.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

Can't blame Horst for this affliction.

I'm not here for the revisionist attitude though that the picks don't mean that much just because the Bucks so often screw up in the draft. Credit where it's due to Griffin for negotiating to an almost absurd degree.

That said, the Bucks (and Giannis personally presumably) must think that Holiday is going to step it up in a serious way for us long term.

Serious questions : Can Jrue throw an accurate lob? Can Jrue Run a fast break? Can Jrue run a pick and roll? Can Jrue throw an entry pass? If yes - great trade.

Since the Bucks ownership has been transparent about their willingness to get Giannis' input. I'm willing to bet Jrue and Bogdan were on his "list". Or he at least signed off on these moves. There is no doubt in my mind he has given them assurances he will be signing if these moves are made.

If not well....

It was worth a shot!
