Look like lakers playing 4 on 5 if we counting on cousins.

I probably lean Bucks. Lakers might end up with a better bench than them.

I don't want to trash the guy. I'd love to have him in Dallas. But I think this is a significant upgrade for the Bucks and I don't see him going to the Kings and becoming a 34 mpg starter. I'll eat crow if I'm wrong, but I'm having a great off-season on some positions I held and took a bunch of flack on so I'm feeling confident and getting my shots up. :D

He had the best on/off net rating of any of the Bucks' other rotation players did in minutes played without Giannis (+9.7 when the next highest was around +5). His three-point shot improved from last year, and if it continues to he'll be a very high-end role player who would definitely make Hield expendable. RAPM has a lot of noise, but when a second-year player is sitting there at #7 there's at least something to it.

In giving up Divincenzo, the Bucks paid a premium for a better shooter alongside Giannis and an older player who fits their timeline; that's probably why they asked for Justin James in return because they need some playable minimum contract players to fill out the roster.

I'm guessing this was a Kings insistence rather than a Bucks ask. They won't have an issue attracting min contract guys to that team and the Kings probably didn't want to pay money to cut more players and otherwise it was a 3 for 1 with 2 of the 3 guys having no value to them.

Lifted protections (so it's unprotected in 2022) and swapped #42 for a future IND 2nd.

The Bucks needed that pick they owe Cleveland unprotected, otherwise the Stepien rule would have hamstrung the deal with New Orleans.

So not only did Cleveland get the Bucks' pick unprotected, they made Milwaukee give up a swap of 2nds for the privilege.

Here was the old protection:
2022 first round draft pick from Milwaukee
Milwaukee's 1st round pick to Cleveland protected for selections 1-10 in 2022, 1-10 and 25-30 in 2023 and 1-8 in 2024; if Milwaukee has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Cleveland by 2024, then Milwaukee will instead convey its 2024 2nd round pick and 2025 2nd round pick to Cleveland

Here is what Milwaukee paid to NOP:

I'm seeing 2023 not included in that list, so I wonder if the Cleveland pick isn't some version of '22 protected still, if not '23 etc.

Did not see that coming. Putting in a call that Hood has an offer from the Hawks on the table right now that make this worth it.

Yeah, another surprise. I'm guessing this is another totally-not-tampering deal, the RoLo special.

Strikes me as very ill-advised otherwise. Dude hasn't played in a long time.

Also puts the Covington trade into more context too.

No. But Atlanta could give him 1/$8M or something where its a profit and they can promise him X minutes towards re-building his value. Atlanta needs vet wings but according to their fans here paying anything close to starter money is off the table so this gets them a vet to mix in for a price they can live with.

Again just speculating.

I would be worried about Boston's chemistry; but it has never been an issue before.

Ironically Ainge was likely trying to get Milwaukee to take Kemba so he could pursue Holiday. Oops.

I was skeptical that Hood could contribute much to the Blazers this year coming off an Achilles injury, but Hood opting out hurts the Blazers' flexibility.

If the Blazers were planning going to go all-in and try to get another good piece by trading a future 1st + #46/Simons/Little, Hood's salary would have been helpful to bring back a mid-sized salary.

Much harder to get Oubre/Gallinari/etc now without giving up someone of real value.

Herzonja, Little, Simons, Collins make $12 million all together. Removing Collins, it's only $6.5 million. And, at least as of now, we're relying on Collins to play serious minutes this year.
