Nice deals for Bucks, but this will not get them over the top. Also they lost some good bench guys.. Which they need to fill out smart now.

That's a huge move for Milwaukee and a very good partner for Giannis. They still need more though.
Definitely an upgrade at the guard but only a tier 3 guy imo. He will be very valuable guarding Kyrie and Jimmy in the East. Still not the star i think the bucks need to win it all and keep giannis.
There are no established "stars" on the move - if you don't count the various high-usage ballhogs looking to change teams right now. Giannis is pretty much an offense by himself. He needs dudes around him who can pick up the slack when he has a bad day.

Lol sure it will, especially in the east, that team could reach the finals for sure, multiple times
The *heat* made the “finals”** this year. The got dang HEAT
If they don’t, it says more about Giannis than it does about their team makeup

So the bucks are gonna fill out the rest of their bench with exceptions? And brook lopez has them over a barrel right now. Centers don’t have a lot of value but I doubt they want to tell Giannis they are rolling a vet min guy out there in the starting lineup. And they seem screwed capwise for the foreseeable future. I mean, I’d still have done these deals if I were them but it ain’t all rosy in Milwaukee.

The value of a center depends on his skill.
Brook Lopez = valuable dude on a contender
Wendell Carter = meh
The Bucks did EXACTLY what they had to do. Giannis never said he was looking for a group of superfriends around him, but he needed to see Milwaukee was prepared to get him some better help. They did just that.

Yeah, I know. I’m just saying all of this puts them in a really tough spot in filling out their roster, retaining Lopez, and going forward, they are going to have a very tough time with their salary cap situation. They did a good job in staying competitive enough to keep giannis, but they are walking a tightrope.

That's some haul for Holliday. I wonder what Zach would fetch in this market.

The amount of potentially desperate teams with assets is dwindling.
Boston
Philly
Brooklyn
Denver
Dallas
Utah
Hard to make deals with those teams unless you really like LeVert, MPJ or Josh Richardson.

I do really like MPJ, but I don’t see why they’d be desperate. That team is exciting now in terms of play and in terms of developmental pieces. I wouldn’t be super worried about a championship if I was in their spot.

To beat a dead horse... how awful did GarPax slow down this Bulls rebuild with the Butler trade considering the draft asset value we're seeing returned for stars? Holliday has a closer player value to Butler than Butler to Anthony Davis, and he still cashed a bunch even if you presume these future picks will be near the end of the first round. The Bulls couldn't even get ONE direct pick, they essentially swapped picks to move up. Sure the market has changed a little where picks are being thrown around more liberally in the past couple years but yikes. And LaVine's value was very low at the time too. He had a big knee injury and the major faults of his game were obvious.
But good on Milwaukee. Without going into their cap situation now or the coming years as they attempt to sign Giannis, they'll at least be really damn good next year. It won't be hard for them to add a couple solid short term bench pieces.

Sure I wish we got more for Jimmy (or didn't trade him), but he was up for a Westbrook or CP3 like supermax that would have crippled us if we kept him. Also, we got Zach, who is a near allstar, Lauri who may still become a near allstar and Dunn who might have been decent if the combo of injuries and bad coaching didn't (Please Use More Appropriate Word) his development. Those picks that MIL gave up are likely to all become marginal starters or bench guys...quantity doesn't equate to quality.

Re: Around The NBA
I sure hope Giannis signs his max with the Bucks now. He asked them to build a better fitting team around him if they wanted him to stay. They have. Assuming a couple ring chasers and savvy cheap signs to fill out the depleted bench, that's a heck of a starting 5 alright. I like their odds, at the moment, to get through the East.
Exciting start to the active off-season! I'm going to hit f5 about thirty thousand times this week I think.

I don't think it really does. I think the Bucks have been working this masterfully. There will be plenty of minimum guys who can play spot minutes around the starters. Meanwhile, their top 5 is now Holiday-Middleton-Bogdanovic-Giannis-Lopez. Yeah, they basically have nothing beyond those five - Giannis' older brother, who can barely play, and no one who is currently signed. But look at what the Lakers were able to do with minimums and exceptions. Then go look at what current FAs are available - either already or planning to opt out, or not being QO'd.
Point being that the Bucks will likely be able to find 3 quality NBA backups for relatively cheap, and deep rotation level reserves are a dime a dozen

They got killed in the Holiday deal IMHO.

Except they had two players on the level of Giannis instead of one. We, from all teams out there, should know the difference it makes one very good player playing together with one of the best...
And context matters. Let's see how Durant comes back and where Harden lands. The Bucks might not even be the best team on the East at the start of this season...

As opposed to the crippling losing that we've had since? And despite being here for 3 years, none of those guys are all stars. And likely won't be allstars. One of them didn't even get the QO. The other two likely won't be here in a year or two. I can't see them getting monster contracts. If anything, AKME should move off of Zach while people are shooting out unprotected picks when the musical chairs stop this summer.

Not to mention they're the Lakers in LA and not the Bucks in Milwaukee. Something to be said about playing in SoCal for the most prestigious franchise in the league.

As for the Jrue deal...
Those swaps won’t happen as Bucks will be contenders for next 4 seasons. Those 1sts will be late 20s.

Not if Giannis walks
