Rox doesnt want picks for Harden. Which is a really good thing.

When Rox is really committed to only trade Harden if they get a star in return, like what is reported, then we have the upper hand.

Because we can’t really compete with the young starters (dinwiddie, lavert) and picks Nets offered without trading Ben.

No one can compete with us if we put Ben on the table for Harden. And Im guessing that is what Rox really want and are just using Nets to bluff us. They are more like “trade us Ben or say byebye to your championship hopes”. Which is a really smart thing.

Not sure I'd just throw Horford as filler into a Simmons/Harden swap. Horford is still a productive player and with Harden/Embiid there will be even less touches to go around, meaning defensive role players will be important. Also, the spacing issue will magically go away after you remove Simmons from the lineup. So the question is this - would you rather have Harris or Horford at PF if your goal is to win a chip in the next 2 years?

I’d have Harris then find a cheap replacement for Al.

Harris can play a support role on offense whenever we load management Biid or Harden. Biid+Tobi or Harden+Tobi can carry an offense.

You then can have Pelle or Noel play that Capela role.

Do you guys agree with me on this?

When Harden passed up his $100m extension, does it mean Rox is forced to trade Harden before the season starts? Because they’ll lose leverage as the season progress. Specially if they drag this to next season.

If Rox is not committed to trade Harden and RW before the season, they wouldn’t trade Roco for two firsts.

When Rox asks a atleast a star in return for Harden, and truly mean it. Does this mean Nets should not be considered at all? Because there’s no way they’ll trade Kyrie for Harden.

The only possibility is they can package Lavert, Dinwiddie and picks for a weak star (Westbrook JK) then trade that star for Harden.

A 31 y.o vet (and Harden is an old 31) asking to be traded should never return equal value in a trade. IF You trade Ben you do it for young stars like Greek Freak,Devin Booker. YOu dont do it for 31 y.o Harden who has flaws in his game.

Lebron,Steph would be the very few exceptions where you would consider it..

Harden probably doesnt want to come to Philadelphia without Ben Simmons. His main reason to want to play in Philly is probably to play with the Sixers best player Ben Simmons.

This is an easy NO for me.

The idea to get Harden is to play with a great young player like Simmons. Im not sure Harden would even want to come here if it meant Ben Simmons was getting traded.

Imagine declining LeBron or Curry for Ben because of such rigid thinking.

You speak of Ben as if he doesn't have flaws in his game.

Good thing he didnt say the best player is Al Horford or else he’d be more accurate.

I guarantee you that Morey does not think Ben is the Sixers' best player. Watch Morey's introductory press conference with the Sixers and listen to how often he gushed about Embiid relative to Simmons - not that he didn't praise Simmons as well, but it was pretty clear that Embiid is his #1 guy. Not hard to realize why considering that Embiid is #4 in the NBA in 5 year RAPM behind only Curry, LeBron, and CP3 (and #6 in 3 year RAPM behind Giannis, Curry, CP3, Jrue!, and LeBron).

Ben is better than LeBron on everything, except shooting.

They are yin and yang.

If you gave Simmons 33% usage he'd put up the same counting stats as Jo. The game is deeper than that.
I would deal Jo before I dealt Simmons. Simmons/Harden is a more scaleable, durable duo.

Of course HOU prolly doesnt want Jo because noone wants a headcase C who doesnt pass and only plays in the 1st half

Spoiler:
Bro, have you not received the memo?

We have to find ways to increase Ben’s value.

Rox is asking picks aside from Ben

If you give Simmons 100% usage im sure he will be able to solve climate change.

This thread is melting my brain and I thought r/Sixers only had that capability. I swear most peoples' opinions on Simmons are solely based on fantasy "what if" scenarios they conjure up in 2K.

https://www.phillyvoice.com/james-harden-trade-rumors-nab-sixers-76ers-would-cost-ben-simmons-joel-embiid-brooklyn-nets-0599970/amp/

Reality check No. 3: there is no title window for Philadelphia right this second. The Sixers are not even close to good enough as currently constructed, and will require at least a medium-sized upheaval to get there. Yes, they have gone to great lengths to upgrade the organization this offseason with people who are better equipped to open said window. But their competitors are already currently better and have room to grow themselves.

The Celtics have embarrassed two completely different versions of this Sixers team in the playoffs in three years on the strength of performances from same-age peers of Embiid and Simmons. The Bucks seem to be sending signals that Giannis Antetokounmpo is staying and have made legitimate upgrades over the last 24 hours. Jimmy Butler proved he was not going to Miami to kick it on the beach for a few years, and Pat Riley always finds ways to lure talent. The Raptors have proven they should not be discounted as competitors under almost any circumstances. Brooklyn already has Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving and seems the likeliest destination for Harden should Houston choose to move him.

As currently constructed, Philadelphia is in a dogfight to be better than the sixth-best team in the conference. According to TheLines.com's consensus odds, Philly's title chances (+3000) are a ways off the fifth best team in the east, the Raptors (at +1600).

A trade for Harden changes the conversation. He is a more natural fit with Embiid than he is being given credit for, a player who has changed roles and styles several times throughout his career and who I believe would do so again if the situation warranted it.

Embiid is not the go-get-it rim runner Harden thrives playing with, but they offer balance to the other's strengths, styles that can win different matchups, a more natural 1-2 punch that can actually run plays together. Embiid is the defensive spine and the fallback offensive option Harden needs rolled up into one player.

If you want to make the case they could build a very good team around Simmons and Harden, I wouldn't argue with you there. But Simmons presents a worse version of the same problems that Russell Westbrook did for Harden in the playoffs this year and Embiid is the better player by a good margin. If you're going to try to go for it and part with one of these guys, Embiid-Harden is the pairing.

There is one reason to not move heaven and earth for Harden — if he doesn't want to be here. If Brooklyn is the only team he genuinely wants to play for moving forward, it's not worth bothering with anything other than the aforementioned pu pu platter. And for all intents and purposes, Simmons and Embiid have not been on the table in any trade discussions the Sixers have had in the past or present. We'll see if that changes.

But if Philadelphia offers genuine allure to Harden, this is an easier decision than a lot of people seem to think.

In all the discussion, I do not want to trade either, but isn't it better to have
Horford
Tobias
Thybulle
Simmons
Harden

Than

Embiid
Harris
Thybulle
Harden
Shake
Plus horford

Is there a way for the Nets to trade Dinwiddie, Lavert and picks to get a current star (no Al Horford ) then ship that star to the Rockets?
