I don't see anyone complaining if their owner donates to Mitt Romney.
It sounds like an excuse for me. It's never stopped NBA players from taking millions prior. Sounds more like Harden needs a scapegoat for quitting on a franchise and not having the balls to take responsibility.
Maybe so, but there are worse scapegoats in the world than taking a stand against racism and authoritarianism
Besides when it's China apparently. The biggest Authoritarian government in the world.

Silver you allowed this to happen. Wouldnt be suprised if Fertita starts demanding his resignation or try convince couple of owners in doing so.
They should follow RealGM's no politic model. Unfortunately all these woke league's and industries have to learn the hard way. You lean hard one way, not even moderately, and you alienate half the country. No one wins.

You opposed Donald Sterling being removed from the league?
So being a racist is political?
Why do you think Donald Sterling is racist? He dated black women. He had a black GM.

This recent trend of just cutting people off in life because of who they support politically is pathetic. What ever happened to just respecting that people may have different cultures, beliefs and political views than you? Not like Fertitta is running into the locker room chanting "Build the wall!" or anything FFS.
Gonna guess this has happened to you and you can't figure out why.
Btw... what did you do with your support of Donald Sterling once you knew he was a racist after supporting him all those years?

The President is in sports though. He tried to crush the NFL. He regularly comments on sports. He has used his platform to negatively affect privately owned sports organizations. This isn't just political beliefs and to brush it off as that is disingenuous.
You can say that he commented because those leagues denounced him first. It's like a chicken and egg scenario, you can go back and forth forever pointing fingers. These leagues have also tried to influence the election as well. It's a no-win situation.
The point is that when players and league owners should not be squabbling over political beliefs or even toward other players. If so, you're encouraging cancel culture or a civil war amongst employees with differing beliefs.
So what's next? Players do not want to play with John Doe because he supports Trump?

Now it just seems like there is so much hate (on both sides) that you can't even say what side you support without making enemies for life.
It gets easier to talk about things like politics when both sides can agree that extremes are bad. When you have someone of great power not condemning racism or white supremacy it opens a can of worms of what is or isn't tolerated in a society. A society needs to tread carefully on what they deem as extreme because currently in the United States you have abolishing student debt and taxing the rich as an "extreme left ideal" (Which isn't extreme compared to many First world countries but it is in the United States) and on the other side you have talks of starting a civil war over presidential election (Which, if we looked at a democracy of any other First world country and the country not accepting the results we would fairly state that country has major underlying issues if the losing party doesn't fairly accept the results).
This is the same country with leadership which managed to turn a world wide pandemic into a political charade. The country has systematic issues which have yet to be resolved since slavery and those close minded, hateful thoughts and feelings have been let out of the cage in the past 4 years. The people in this country have a choice if they wish to educate themselves and others on issues at the root of the systems or stand pat and stay the course our country was steered in over the past 4 years.
Not true. In the same speech that he's hit for this, he said he condemns all racism and white supremacy FIRST before the both sides have bad people comment. I don't know why people continue saying this.
"We condemn this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence. It has no place in America. As I have said many times before, no matter the color of our skin... we all live under the same laws, and salute the same great flag. *Skip to next part*... "Racism is evil, and those who cause violence in it's name are criminal and thugs. Including the KKK, Neo-Nazi's, white supremacists, and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as American's.
Also he's condemned the KKK at least 10 times. Not to say I'm not relieved to move on from the last 4 years in many ways, but believe me.. the players have ZERO issue taking dirty money. They don't give a **** about this kind of stuff for the most part. So to work this into a believable excuse is silly. Harden didn't raise this issue in the 4 years prior playing for the man. Trump was already in office when Harden signed his 4 year deal in 2017.
I think Trump is a clown and acts like a 6 year old far too often. But the media / left narrative about him not disavowing "white supremacy" is one of the greatest propaganda social media tricks ever pulled. It was a master stroke of brainwashing weak minded fools.
Just pay David Duke 1 billion dollars to always endorse the Republican candidate. It's worth it's weight in gold because the average twitter rage leftist will just believe it.

There's a big difference between being a Republican and being a Trump supporter.

I'm not working anything into a believable excuse. I don't believe for a second Harden wants out because of Fertitta's political beliefs. Harden wants out because he has seen a complete dismantling of a functional system after the "New Boss" has forced everyone out. Harden wants out because everyone who was above him whom he respected, MDA and Morey, are no where to be seen. Harden can see the writing on the wall with the franchise and doesn't want to waste the rest of his prime playing for a dis-functional ownership group.

Nothing says "I'm not racist" like needing someone to write a speech for you to read off a teleprompter because whenever you speak off the cuff, you can't seem to figure out how to not sound racist. Or saying it sarcastically because you find racism a joke.

When did the NBA or NFL denounce Trump? And even if they did the President shouldn't decide to continually attack the NFL for being unamerican. He shouldn't be tweeting about the NBA and it's political leanings by deciding to support BLM. Trump chose to engage as the President and as a person. Once that is done you can't tell players to take it out of the game. It's in the game then.
