Re: The Lebron Thread | 2021 & Offseason
After seeing what the Bucks are doing for Giannis and taking the risks by going all in, I hate the Cavs even more for ruining LeBron's early prime and for not trading that Brooklyn pick in 2018.

At least when it comes to 2018, the Bucks actually have a contending level team currently. The Warriors were just so far out in front of everyone then that one guy wouldn't have made a difference in closing the gap. I think the Cavs felt that they were still 2nd behind them, which may or may not have been true, we'll never know.
Obviously I think its still pretty inexcusable that the franchise had 1 year left of by far the best player to ever wear their uniform and they basically started rebuilding during that last season. Just insane levels of disrespect for the opportunity they had and the lucky situation they were in.
But yeah, first stint Cavs were pretty terrible at allocating assets and making moves. They always believed that guys like Antwan Jamison, or Mo Williams, or Ben Wallace would make the difference when none of those guys were ever actually needle movers in the first place.
However, 3 first round picks and 2 pick swaps plus two high level players? That is an incredible haul, no team would have traded that much in the late 00s, heck Pau Gasol fetched far less. It's sure as hell a lot more than just "The Brooklyn Pick" was worth, it wouldn't have fetched anything close to Jrue either, especially when the Cavs really didn't have any other trade able assets or players and were basically hard capped.

LeBron was giving strong vibes like he would leave. Think the real problem was them treating Osman and Nance as untouchable building blocks. Back then if you listened to cav fans describe these players you'd think they were the original Doncic+Porzingis

The pre heat Cavs were just a mess and they tried to make some moves, but not like this ofc.
We didn't have multiple stars requesting out each year also
I don't blame CLE in 2018.
Wtf did you want them to do with their pick? Trade it for Kemba?
We weren't beating GS

It's a terrible trade, you're sacrificing size (big time), defense and spacing. With it being Lebron's team, Schroeder's on-ball value is pretty much irrelevant, the offense will be controlled by Lebron all the time.
I'm not complaining though, as long as Lebron/AD are together and healthy the Lakers need to self-sabotage like this to make the league somewhat interesting.
I mean the way to look at it imo is
(Wesley matthews)? + schroder
Vs
Green + rondo
I think schroder is far better off ball than rondo is, but playoff rondo was wilding
Yeah, still a terrible trade. You're losing size, defense and proven experience at the highest level. What have Schroeder and Matthews ever proven deep in the playoffs?
With Lebron and AD on the roster you have both sides of the floor covered, no more heavy lifting needed. Just fill the roster with guys who can operate without the ball, have size and can't be exploited on either end of the court. A guy like Danny Green has shown he can be a valuable asset to championship teams in all sorts of contexts, why would you trade him for unknown quantities?
I get what youre saying but theres a good shot greens gonna decline more, and we couldnt afford both him and rondo either way
Schroder is better off ball than rondo and less exploitable defensivly, although not as good off ball on defense
Id say matthews is a better on ball defender than green at this point although greens a better help defender, its good to have someone able to guard the point of attack other than bron and AD.
I think green > matthews, schroder >> rondo personally
Didnt have alot of draft assets so we cant expect to get holiday or anythjng like that

Gallo everytime. He's a borderline star and the Lakers would have the absolute best closing lineup in the league
Lebron-Gallo-AD
and 2 of Caruso-Schroeder-KCP depending on matchup

What’s the MLE worth and what’s gallos actual value? I think 45/3 isn’t too far fetched value wise. He said he wants to win and money isn’t his concern but there’s obviously a line somewhere. Do the Lakers cross it or no?

Re: The Lebron Thread | 2021 & Offseason
I think I like Gallo if we can also get Matthews and keep Dwight
What do we think of Rondo to LAC for say a 3 year MLE?
Would we be ok with that?
I wonder if we could do a sign and trade and get Shamet back?

I like the idea of targeting Glenn Robinson, I think he can provide some value in the right situation. He's showed promise as a shooter though I'm not sure about his defensive capabilities.

Re: The Lebron Thread | 2021 & Offseason
Gallo would be great for this roster now but that is extremely wishful thinking in my opinion. I don't think Rondo being on another contender is any issue, he's only valuable in certain situations and is just as likely to cause issues as he is to cause good. My bet is he ends up somewhere on a non contender honestly.

Re: The Lebron Thread | 2021 & Offseason
Apparently Dave McMenamin reported that Bradley is expected to decline his option.. I consider that a win for the Lakers. I think he's proven to be pretty expendable, would much rather allocate his minutes to KCP/Caruso/Schroeder/wing FA.

Looks like Harden to the Nets is actually happening lol. Hopefully Houston makes them fork over Allen and their other defensive pieces. If they somehow get Ibaka too I might actually vomit

I can see a 3 year mle with LAC, but I am not sure if that worries me or not
Rondo was really a negative all reg season and even in the playoffs he wasn't great
He had some really good moments and some awful ones (even in the finals)
But he does fit better with LAC and their spacing, so he may be a better player there
I assume he wants more money, more years and more playing time than we can/will offer
I bet he wants to start with LAC
If they keep Morris, their lineup makes a lot of sense
Rondo, PG, Kawhi, Morris, Zubac
Beverly, Lou, Shamet, Green?, Vet big?

Next year is looking like a bloodbath. LA needs to make a move to make up for losing Green, Rondo, and most likely Bradley with the way other teams are loading up.

I'm not that high on Serge. He'd be great to have, but I honestly think Gallo would be better. He's been a legit .400 3 pt shooter the last 2 years and I don't even think Serge is that much better defensively. Raptor fans were complaining he lost a lot of mobility

Ben Wallace was acting putting in work in the minutes he had before he got injured
I came here to do two things: get lost and slice **** up & I'm all out of directions.
