The Simmons/Russillo analysis on this deal is unsurprisingly really bad. They sound like salty Celtics front office guys.

It’s such a brutal listen and it’s absolutely Celtics fan saltiness. Very similar to the AD trade when the Lakers essentially stole him from the Celtics, and Simmons dumped on the trade from the Lakers side and it was so obvious he was salty about it. And then they end up winning the title lol.

The is a ton of info on the web about Jrue preferring to play SG, not liking the point, is he maybe our 2 and Bogs our 6th man, if so who can we get for cheap to play point...
Mudiay is still only 24 and shot 35% 3s last year... getting better each year... we need to get him on this roster IMO

Nekias is a great follow on Twitter. He seems like a guy who’s hustling and trying to get his stories published, but he’s also just a really good dude on his timeline in general. I recommend him for a follow if you use Twitter for your NBA news.

Re: Bucks acquire Jrue Holiday
Looking forward to listening to Simmons later tonight but would always concur that he’s got Boston homer goggles.
That said, to the guy outside of Milwaukee, it looks like one of the most unprecedented overpays in league history. Bledsoe and George Hill are damn good players. Their contracts aren’t poison anchors like Chandler Parsons or something.
Holiday is better, but it isn’t like he’s Chris Paul of ten years ago or prime Gary Payton.
Then adding in two far out unprotected picks? Heck that’s the type of malpractice type stuff that Ted Stepien did. And two pick swaps? That’s what Hinkie did to the Kings and Ainge to the Nets.
This was in many ways like a ransom payment to the league we were forced to pay, due to prior asset mismanagement.

Weird how Russilo of all people didn't know anything about Giannis not wanting to play with Paul. From there the discussion just got worse.

Really uninformed, both on the front office and basketball side. These are supposedly plugged into the league professionals, but they can’t make a single phone call to get semi accurate intel before spouting off? More likely they’re just acting as mouthpieces for Bucks competitors and went on the air with a mission to trash the deal. Constantly talk out of both sides of their asses. I stopped listening after the episode they had to apologize for in May and recently checked in again. Won’t be back any time soon.

Wait so we can’t extend Jrue until February?

When you can and can't extend one of your players is so stupid.

Re: Bucks acquire Jrue Holiday
Giannis ,& Jrue are going to push each other. As if Giannis isn't already getting better. We've witnessed his impact on other players. Put another heavily skilled two way guard next to him... Look out. It's really hitting me. They're flying under the radar but NBA players know what's up. Bucks are going to sh-- on people for a 3rd year in a row, just even more than the prev. two.
I don't know about Jrue not being the second coming of Payton. He looks better than Bledsoe on both sides of the ball. Capable of running down, smothering & containing just about anyone when he's committed. He can shut down LBJ mono y mono.

Holiday wouldn't be getting much of a raise. He already makes $26,000,000.
It's not so much just a raise that i was talking about. Instead, having Giannis at the huge Super Max cap eating amounts, Middleton 35 million plus, Bogdan somewhere in the 17ish million, and then adding a Holiday extension around 30 million per or more? Those four alone would eat up most of the cap going forward.
That doesn't account for Lopez either.
I hear ya.
I would guess this will be Brook's last season as a Buck.
he's signed through 22-23.

The part in bold seems to be a pretty big exaggeration--there are really bad trades made every year--but I haven't researched bad trades that other teams have done.
I know I shouldn't think about it, but what if Giannis leaves? Unless a 2nd round pick becomes an all-star or something, we might be very bad for ten years (instead of being an 8 seed).

Who cares about a future without Giannis? We'll be mourning for the next 10 years anyway.

Great move to trade for Holiday and Bogdan. After this next season ends, gonna be a nightmare...BUT this upcoming season for the Bucks should be damn exciting.
And good riddance to Bledsoe in the playoffs. Yikes.

What's going on with the fact this isn't official yet? I know some reporting that there is still small haggling over which exact picks are involved. But wouldn't that mean we haven't agreed to a deal?
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Not sure why the general consensus is "it's a massive overpay but it's worth it since giannis will sign the supermax now" when he likely would have signed it regardless.

We have to assume that we have partnered with Giannis here and these moves reflect his desires as well. If that is true then it would not be assumed he would just sign regardless.
He said it himself, he wants to stay but he wants some assurances that we are building the right team. As he said, that we make the right decisions.
I think these moves are the right decisions but definitely risky long term. We have a very strong starting line up on paper.
