Re: 2020 Draft Day Discussion
A couple of names not mentioned much that should be considered in the 2nd round
Payton Pritchard - PG from Oregon
This guy is a fiery competitor and a winner. He can shoot the rock, and makes plays for teammates. This guy can lead the 2nd unit with potential to do more. If he is there at 32 I hooe we consider him.
Cassius Stanley -SG/SF from Duke
I brought him up one time a while back with just a few responses. He is the most athletic player in this draft, and shot over 40% from beyond the arc as a freshman last year. He has some flaws in his ball handling and creating for others, but the kid is 19 with plenty of time to develop. You cannot teach his athleticism, and it comes with a good jump shot. If there at 32 I hope we consider him.
Mason Jones - SG from Arkanasas
Kid can score! Has a nice jump shot, and is good at drawing contact to get to the free throw line. Has a nice step back, and side step jumper off the dribble. His drawback is that he is not very athletic. I see him as an instant offense scorer off the bench, if he is there at 56 I hope we consider him.
Grant Riller and Josh Hall are two other guys who are sleepers.

Re: 2020 Draft Day Discussion
Happy draft day guys. I couldn't think of a better group of us 20 or so posters to go to war with than you. Tonight will be really fun and your opinions are appreciated. I look forward to HORNET success. We will all be happy when it's over for some reason I have a feeling if we keep our picks. If we do not I have a feeling we will try to make a wild trade but all in all I think it will be ok

Re: 2020 Draft Day Discussion
The Warriors would be dumb to not take that trade. Carter would fit nicely on their team. The 4th pick gives them options to add a contributing rookie off the bench without depending on him as a starter during a championship run

Re: 2020 Draft Day Discussion
I wouldn't be upset at all if we take Stanley in the early 2nd. A wing with his athleticism and workable jump shot is worth investing in. I like Mason Jones too, he knows how to leverage contact and score, which are skills this team lacks.

I'm not going to get anything useful done today, am I?
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu

Please don't trade up.

Re: 2020 Draft Day Discussion
If Okongwu can really drop to #8 and if Hornets can move down to 7#/8# while grabing a 2021 or 22 1st pick (top 3 pick protected at worst) and grabing OO, i would be beyond excited. but this is the kind of gamble i would not do (basically if the team drop to 8, he would picked at 7, this kind of stuff..).
In a perfect world, Hornets would trade some expiring/Miles for a 1st that turn into Haliburton along with either Edwards or Wiseman at the 3 (or OO if its traded) and pick Tillman or the BPA (wing or sg) at 32 depending on the 1st pick.
OO at #3 is a bit frustrating, hard not to be torn. But otoh, this guy has the potential to be a "your franchise could have drafted him" type of player. I kinda remember B. Clarke and Bam in topics here, and both were not really highly considered.
I already said i am mostly looking for next three years (even 2023 will have pretty good prospects if not in the US, at least internationally). But i do hope all picks will have major trade value going forward.

I NEVER been this excited about a draft before. Either I am getting older or younger but things are not the same.

Re: 2020 Draft Day Discussion
Your mission Mitch Kupchak is to make James Wiseman a Charlotte Hornet by the end of the day without trading a future 1st, Graham, or Washington. I believe in you, you can do it!

Re: 2020 Draft Day Discussion
In the first round I think I'm most nervous/apprehensive about drafting Ball. A bit nervous about taking Edwards but ok with taking Wiseman. Love the idea of trading down for OO or Hayes and get another asset.
I don't want a trade for nothing though, would want a future first or young asset. Like that Chicago offer.
Next year looks like an awesome draft. I want to take as much youth as possible this off season, get rid of the older veterans. Play the youth, see how they go and get a good pick next year.
Build from there

Don't worry we will be fine. I just hope that since we are drafting virtually, that we don't get an interupt from a former GM of the HORNETS who has taken over the feed of Kupchak and who instead makes the pick.
