So you are saying you'd rather draft anyone of those 7 players before drafting Wiseman? And 9 players if you actually have Maxey and Williams above him in your tier #4?
You are THAT down on Wiseman?
Slam! I wanted to ask why you were low on Maxey but also didn't want to clog up the thread.
I'd rather have any of the tier 1-3 over Wiseman. I see Wiseman as a solid/10-12ish starting 5 at his ceiling. I don't see the super star potential at all. He has size and seems to care which is great. He's clearly going to be NBA vet for 10+ years. That being said, Wiseman's flaws are ones that don't really improve. Lateral agility, rebounding tenacity, passing/offensive feel.
Offensively he's not super skilled and fits best as a PnR dive man. Defensively he can't guard the perimeter so we'd certainly only play a drop coverage with him. I don't think that type of player, even if he's the best version of that, is worth a top 5 pick. Deandre Jordan has a place in the NBA but he's like the 4th best player on a championship team.
I guess the bigger question is with Vassell and Okoro. I see both as having higher ceilings, although I don't think either reach it.
Vassell is the best team defender in the class and a knockdown shooter. He has shown the ability to shoot off the dribble and pass a little. Jumbo wing initiator is a probable outcome, even if its <5%.
Okoro has the potential to be an Iggy guy at his ceiling. Again, his ceiling. He's great on ball, good off ball, and showed creation at Auburn. His whole thing is whether or not he can shoot it. Shooting is one of the more fixable traits for prospects (unlike the flaws I see in Wiseman's game). Okoro also isn't that long.
When it comes to the rest of the list:
Poku- Big boom or bust. If we were picking at 8 I'd take the swing even if its only a 25% chance. He's a unicorn who can handle, shoot, and protect the rim. He also weighs less 200 lbs.
Williams- Strong/long, good passer for position, should be able to shoot. He's not Kawhi, but has traits you can fall in love with if you squint.
Maxey- He's going to go somewhere like Dallas and be the steal of the draft. Excellent defender and I really believe he will be a 37%+ shooter at the next level based on EYBL stats and FT%. He isn't a primary but is a top of the line secondary who is perfect next to a Luka, Lebron, Butler type.
