[Woj] Horford, Ferg, 1st, 2nd for Danny Green

Green for Horford and picks: your take?

Green means Go: Sixers win. They trade a redundant, expensive luxury for a need and don't have to add that much.

Green around the gills: Thunder win. They're cycling through productive vets and still adding picks along the way.

19%
Wait in the Green room: both sides win. Philly improves on the court and OKC improves their stash.

The Grass is always Green-er: both sides lose. Green is more rep than production, and OKC didn't get paid enough for taking on Horford.

how much room after the original deal is there under the apron?

I don't care. Bring me Noel, or return the pick.

Steal for Philly, but not bad for OKC, either. I would like to think that they should have gotten one more asset, but Horford will be a nice fit on their team.

I'm less certain about Green's value on that salary, but I broadly agree with this - feels a little light for OKC, especially with the pick protected to take away their longshot upside. But the strategy for them is fine, they didn't give up anything they really value, so I'm fine with it, I just would have expected the negotiation to skew their way a little more than it did.

Why do I get the feeling that Horford is going to have a monster year and then somehow through Presti magic he's able to flip Horford again for more picks in a year or two?

Presti paying Morey back for the CP trade with this one?

But Presti is playing chess honestly. OKC has acquired so many picks and can still push for the playoffs..

If that was true then Presti would have made that trade. I got Ferguson as a negative contract that no team would give even cap space for. Green too was not fetching a 1st without long term bad money coming to OKC which is what just happened.

Ferguson is a 40% 3PT shooter on a rookie contract for another year or two. How is that a negative contract? He's not a world beater or anything but...

In what world is Ferguson a 40% three point shooter? I get wanting to be excited for Ferguson but he genuinely sucks.

Both teams got what they wanted, so I'd call it a win-win.

Tax midlevel is in play now, and probably Simmons should be playing at backup center if they're keeping him and trying to maximize him.

Tax mid level was always possible.

With the cap space - maybe get Tucker $8 and DRivers $2.4 and McLemore $2.3 from HOU - would really round out bench.

Wouldn't ATL have taken Horford for much less?
Ferguson seems useless.
Seems like there would have been better options. Rozier and Zeller (or picks to not take him)? - or, Rozier and Green?
To Dallas for Hardaway and Wright?

It's already a win for the Sixers. Could be great for us if the ''rehab'' works as planned for Al Horford. But in the end it's not a a big deal since we will need to pay some players and we are not planning to sign any FA

Good for OKC to pick up more assets but the team will be brutal to watch next season. The team seems mismatched with almost zero offense. SGA is gonna have a tough season without CP3. Hopefully in a few years OKC can become relevant again but many of their picks rely on other teams to crash and burn or those many picks will all be very late in the draft.

Huge win for the 6ers

They got rid of Horford's contract really cheaply, and got back a player that is actually useful for them

It would be the 1st monster season he has ever had. Don't get me wrong he has been a good player for a long time, but he was never a huge stat guy ever. A monster season is what 13/7 from him now.

That's a truckload of money for a distant first.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

They are nowhere near done. The chances of all of the picks (including OKC’s own) being late is very low. It’s a numbers game.

This is an outstanding deal for Philly. I would like it more for OKC if they keep Gallo, if for nothing but to keep Horford interested. I'm concerned that Al mails it in if the team does not compete. OKC ownership stepped up big time here, paying all that money for Al just to get future picks.

The trick now will be for OKC to do something to help NO - in exchange for those long range 1sts from Mil and LAL.

I am now a firm believer in Presti's voodoo and the spell he is able to cast upon the other 29 front offices.
