At the end of the day, Houston traded Covington for a protected future 1st. They can posture all they want, their owner is hurting and they're slashing costs.

Ummm we got a lot better.
KD and Kyrie are healthy.
We don't know how good we are, but we are better with those 2.

And there is no way in hell, we would have paid that much for Holiday or should have paid that much.
Insane what the Bucks spent.

I agree, but are we better defensively? Do we have enough depth to handle missed games from Irving and Durant?

I honestly would have rather traded for Covington instead of what is happening right now: nothing. Seems like the Nets got caught chasing after the shiny object instead of handling business. We should have been trying to get Holiday and Covington.

harden = as close to a lock as posisble for a title

covington doesnt even make us favorites

Jrue is closer, but if there is even a 5% chance at harden you hold out until there is a 0% chance period. harden basically said trade me to the nets and nets only. when a top 3 player says that, you keep that option open til its dead no matter who you miss out on.

covington is a nice fit, but he is a role player. harden is arguably the best offensive small of all time

He was hit hard. His fortune is in casinos & restaurants. It's understandable. Guys can say what they want, but the writing was probably on the wall, which is why Morey, D'Antoni, & big salaried players are on their way out.

Yeah, what do you make of the PJ Tucker situation with Tillman? Strange to say the least, I'm worried something awful happened.

I refuse to believe Harden will start the season with the Rockets. It's not happening unless the Rockets want to destroy themselves even further! He will get traded for sure and I still like the Nets' chances of getting him.

Just for the record, he and his cousins who used to own the UFC are also sons of mafioso going back generations.

Pooch was the first to break the #19th pick trade news tonight, so I am going to hold out some slight hope that his sources were right and what is happening now is posturing on Houston's part.

Sounds like it's a money issue, but also Tillman is a Trump cultist. That isn't going to sit well with most people.

yep. shady af.

Not just that, but he seems to be an incredibly arrogant dude, as well as completely tone deaf about other people trying to live their lives in a capitalistic situation made all the more difficult due to people like himself.

Of course Tilman, like many of the clueless ultra-wealthy, seems to believe that anything approaching even ordinary first-world progressivism is "socialism gone mad." Get a load of his book title, too... "Shut Up And Listen."
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tilman-fertitta-socialism-scares-the-hell-out-of-me-163128711.html

IIRC there are even stories about him going to other establishments for dinner, then leaving a copy of his narcissistic book in lieu of a "tip" on bills for hundreds of dollars. I sh-tteth thee not.

Even his cousins Frank and Lorenzo weren't such obvious lunatics, despite them chronically screwing over their athletes via sponsorships and fighter pay. All that, plus being a shameless Trump / GOP supporter, and it's no wonder most of his employees & athletes with any leverage want to GTFO.

Oof... bit of a rant there, but you get the idea.

I mean, he used to be a quality player 5+ years ago. His name/reputation exceeds his actual value.

Which HOU fans are posturing? I see fans abandoning ship, which is sad for a good team with a respectable history.

Fertitta needs to sell ASAP before he drives that team into the ground and turns them into a perennial loser.

I think the posturing is largely coming from fans of other teams who hate Kyrie, KD, and/or the Nets for some reason, and want to see the team fail.

Should he be a Hall of Famer based off trade value? Won a title with the Lakers but have been passed around since lol

He started with the Knicks and he’s been to Orlando, LA, Houston x3, Washington, Sacramento, Portland, Detroit...

If Morey can trade for Harden without giving up Simmons or Embiid, you can hand him EOY right now.

Tilman is basically what would have happened if AJ Soprano was able to stumble his way into getting enough loans to buy a basketball team.

I agree, that would be unbelievable.

Still, I think that you can read this in a different way. I don't think he's suggesting they can trade for Harden while keeping Joel and Ben, rather that these trades ensure that Joel and Ben can coexist with one another. That was a big question heading into the offseason, and I think that the additions of Green and Curry (while subtracting Horford) have addressed that.
