Strange interview.

The ESPN lemmings didn't really even ask him about playing in SA or their typical "are you going to be afraid of Pop?" question.
Maybe we drafted him for someone else?

Congrats, Spurs fans. This kid is my favorite player in the draft. He's gonna be a great fit in TX.

Crap. Looks like OKC is getting Theo Maledon.

It feels like teams are just employing the WWSD method - What Would Spurs Do? / Who Would Spurs (like to) Draft? - and pick guys we have in our sights. Either we gave too much info away when calling about prospective players in this draft or there's a mole or something.

Keep saying 'would have liked' player X over and over and these guys have been on our draft list as those we met / interviewed / worked out.

Need stealth mode back.

****. Again! Talk of us interested in Woodard, poof! Another team selects Woodard.

We really need to stop the leaks - or have they been smoke screens?

It did feel like it at first, right? Like we were holding our breath, not getting too attached due to all the trade rumours floating about. And I wonder if it was like that from Devin's end, too. I wasn't sure if he was not too thrilled about being drafted by us or hesitant to express any feelings from the rumours. But I'd seen other interviews with him and really a lot of it is just his face and demeanour.

He did let the emotions out, just don't think this made it to the ESPN broadcast as they had the other picks to get to:

Here is a full interview with Devin, complete with the playing-for-Pop and breakfast tacos questions:

So I thought it would be good to show this post-draft interview with GM Brian Wright as this is his first one. I like his demeanor - we always have these calm, kind guys, sort of opposite to Pop's at times sharpness, but he has long had the unenviable sharp spear end position. Anyway, he comes across as more relaxed and personable than I've seen in previous interviews. Coming along nicely with the media.

Brian didn't give too much away, but I thought the focus on character, size, and comments about BPA/highest ceiling were interesting.
