Not a fan of the deal. I’m not high on Bey at al. This deal just terrible in my eyes. I don’t see Bey developing anything close to what Kennard is now.

I like Bey a lot. Luke was a solid role player though I’m still mad about picking him. I’ll give it a B!

Wasn't sold on Luke either in fit, upside or health, so not mad we moved him. #19 seems about right to me. Bey?

Re: Grade the Kennard trade!
Truthfully? I don’t think Kennard’s value was higher than this. He’s got really serious durability issues and plays no defense. I liked the guy but he’s a 6th or 7th man on a good team and his time frame is off for us.
I’m not thrilled but I can live with it. Weaver is going full rebuild- that’s been made abundantly clear. Should reserve judgement for now- full rebuild is what most of us wanted.

Luke was gone after this season anyways. Couple that with question marks about his knees and I'm totally fine with the trade.

Luke's true value was as a booster to a trade
We could have packaged Luke with Rose/Snell/Sekou/Blake
Plus Farx helping the Clippers who destroyed our team with the Blake trade get better

Re: Grade the Kennard trade!
Fantastic trade.
Luke's has balky knees, which doesn't bode well for a guy with already limited athleticism. He was due for an extension, and his timeline doesn't match up with Detroit's.
Luke will be a nice player for the Clips playing alongside Kawhi and George. Having that caliber of talent around him obviously wasn't in the cards for Detroit.
If his knees hold, Luke will have a nice contract year and get a good contract next summer. Its really a win/win trade for both the Pistons and Kennard.

Kennard for Saddiq Bey is a home run for the Pistons.

I think people just have unrealistic expectations for trades here.
And the thing about helping the Clippers is irrelevant.

Exactly this. At least for the first time in a decade we have a destiny, a plan, and foresight to build within the modern NBA. That's priceless compared to the dredge we've been forced to watch for the past decade.

Are you saying that the Clippers should've said "Whoa there, SVG. Maybe you're getting the shaft on this deal. How about we throw in a couple firsts?" Is it the Clippers' responsibility to make sure we don't shoot ourselves in the foot?
At the end of the day, it's not about wins and losses. Teamwork, fair play, and good sportsmanship make champions of us all.

Good trade, he's a 6th man on a winning team, and we aren't a winning team. Get a young player in return and avoid having to either lose him for nothing or overpay a 6th man

I didn't want to trade Luke, but I did read somewhere that his agent was pushing for him to leave, so it was inevitable. At least we got something for him.

Re: Grade the Kennard trade!
I'm glad we got decent value for him while we could. If we waited until the trade deadline and he was dealing with any level of injury, we could end up with nothing for him or maybe a second round pick.
I'd much rather think about how Saddiq Bey develops than whether Luke's knees will hold up. In a full rebuild, Luke wouldn't be of much value to the Pistons for the next two years, so little reason to commit to a fairly large contract even if he's healthy.
SVG would have kept him, ridden him to squeak out a couple more wins in a losing season, then lost him for nothing or signed him to a bad contract while he's rehabbing his knees again.

Re: Grade the Kennard trade!
For #19 was sorta bad, but it was made during the draft when Bey was there so it makes more sense. Don't miss out on the fact Landry Shamet went to Brooklyn here, so how you see Shamet is how at least Brooklyn saw Kennard (or saw slightly better than Kennard).
Hopefully Pistons don't keep McGruber.

Shamet and Luke are similar, no? Both volume three point shooters who struggle on D. But Shamet has an extra cheap season and no injury concerns.

Re: Grade the Kennard trade!
Not sure how anyone thinks Luke's value was higher than this. He's been shopped for a year now. The closest we came to a deal was apparently a highly protected pick. Nobody was giving up a lottery selection for him. He might be more productive on the court than #19 this year, but he didn't have any more trade value than that.

64/4 per Luke
