They probably can't believe this day finally arrived with all the uncertainty caused by the pandemic, March Madness getting cancelled, not being able to do a regular combine.

This is their lifelong dream, to finally getting drafted despite all the above odds must be such a relief to these kids, thus the overwhelming emotions

Also not the same to be at home surrounded by family than shaking the commissioner's hand and being interviewed with a camera crew in your face. I think it's easier to get emotional this way.
