this is an outstanding trade. Shamet is a knock down catch and shoot guy. another floor spacer. someone houston could use. fits a ton better then levert/dinwiddie if they are on the move

One more year, and a lower cap number probably made the difference. Luke is more established, but Landry is the better defender and is healthier.

I actually like this move. More shooting(great in Joe somehow is resigned(<5% chance). No way this is the only move tho. Prob going to trade Prince at the very least.

What would Prince, Dinwiddie and a future 1st bring? (Assuming Harden doesn't get traded here)

Exactly this. Plus I know the Nets believe in their ability to developing players (i.e: Joe Harris, Dinwiddie, DLo, etc). Won't be surprised if Shamet really improves as a player in his time here.

BTW Shamet is only 23 years old and he was a late bloomer. This guy looked like prime JJ Redick his first year. He struggled a bit with injuries last year + Clippers had no playmakers but he's always a scary guy to play against.

It kind of feels like some super random trade for a forward is coming. Assuming Harden is out of the question, I can't even think of potential targets.

Shamet I’ve been studying since he was drafted. He’s been great for Philly and huge for LAC before they signed Kawhi and dealt for George.

Shamet is probably the best shooter we’ve had in the Marks era aside from Joe Harris. Both could average elite numbers as shooters and Shamet can also defend. Fits perfectly next to Bruce Brown also.

kennards knees are shot. we cant take on any more injury risks.

Levert is not likely starting on this team. he doesnt work well on the floor with kyrie/KD. its why we got a guy like shamet. if levert stays its as a microwave 6th man who can just attack while kyrie/kd rest. thats leverts valye. not as an off ball guy

As some alreadt menitoned... shamet more then just a shooter. high IQ, pesky, and elite athelete. for all the people trashing his D, e can be disruptive as he gets tons fo deflections/blocks/tips. he has potential to be a really solid defender. high IQ and elite athlete.... speaking of which, we were lacking elite athletes so adding him helps in that regard.

Definitely too early to tell. I was just listing out a possible lineup. Offense isn't the problem. LeVert/Harris or Shamet/Harris as the wings on defense is a huge problem. We could play these lineups in spurts but it's not sustainable if one of them has to guard Lebron, Kawhi, Jimmy, Tatum, etc.

a trade is coming. You don't load up like this on guards for no reason.

I love the fit. he has alot of room to grow as well.... he is an elite athlete who is savy. you see it without the ball in flashes with all the strips, deflections, blocks.

And one thing i always look for with shooters. are you steve novak with cement shoes who just stands behind the line or can you knock it down off balance off a screen with no air space? Shamut is the ladder.

I think he can grow into a Matt Barnes type glue guy with better shooting. i dont think he will be quite the defender barnes was and few guys are as tough. but he has the physical tools and pesky savy to be disruptive on defense with coaching and work. and offensively he is already one of the games best shooters who like harris can get to the rim if you take away the 3.

just love the fit more the anything. he is tailor made for this roster/staff
