oh Wow, Thank you for saving us from that mistake MJ
This board would have exploded if we traded up to #3 and passed on LaMelo to take Patrick Williams, ha.

As long as they only attack free agency for young players with upside, I’m down.

Not surprising at all it seemed like he was the guy Weaver REALLY wanted and we ended up with his 2nd choice. Would be been crazy to move up to #3 and not take Ball this board would have probably exploded.

I was hoping Cassius Winston would be available after the draft. Damn you OKC.

Winston to OKC. Good spot, hopefully he’ll get a chance. He’s a winner, and he can shoot.

Also, the headliner;
Killian Hayes.
Off to sleep, and happy as hell!
I called three picks possible four. Fun as it all happens. Now it's over. We got to trade and pick. It will be interesting to see how he attacks free agency.

Its a complete and total rebuild. Both are either on their way out to somewhere to get younger players or picks next year. Or they are stuck here increasing their value for a couple months, playing with 5-6 kids.
Rose for sure wants to win, not tank.
I'm sure we'll do rose a service by moving him to wherever he wants to go if he wants out.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Night Thread
Detroit started the day with only #7.
The ended up with 7,16,19,38
The only future draft capital they sacrificed is a HEAVILY protected future 1st and LAL's 2021 2nd which very well could be #60.
I'd say it was a successful night. Just gotta hope the picks pan out.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Night Thread
i'm soooo happy we didn't trade up just to grab patrick williams. i like williams as a prospect but the reality is that him and hayes are in the same tier as prospects and i'd much rather take hayes and keep the extra picks for more rolls at the dice to land good players.
as the roster stands now, the lineup is something like:
rose/hayes/lee
hayes/svi/thomas
ariza/bey/snell
griffin/doumbouya/bey
stewart/bradley (with griffin getting the remaining mins)
rose has to be shipped out sooner than later man, he doesn't fit the team's direction and unlike blake, snell or ariza is a very moveable asset in terms of production/salary. i'm not even mad that we didn't move him before tonight as i'd rather get an extra (late) first rounder in next year's draft.

Don’t attack free agency too hard. Grab a couple of younger FAs with developmental upside.

I’m fairly certain Ariza is basically already gone. And technically we have McGruder and Patton.

forgot about mcgruder, and i was assuming we'd decline patton's option but who knows.
also, my understanding is that ariza's full contract had to be guaranteed in order to be traded so that would mean we would have to straight cut ariza's $12 million or whatever he's set to make this season.
