I don't know why everyone wants us to sign another bust PG again. How many do we need to go through to figure out that we can't develop these mid to late round PG's without a stable organizational structure. There is too much PG talent in FA. Just get FVV and call it a day.

Him being from NY keeps being mentioned all over social media.
That’s not even the top 100 reasons I like this pick. I don’t get it. Who gives a **** if he’s the hometown kid

Obi fits nicely offensively with rj. He is a versitle floor spacing big with good passing that isnt a ball pounder. He is surrounded by defenders like frank and mitch. I like the pick. Lets get some free agent wings.

Obi's a major offensive talent. Hopefully he gets it together on D and become a force in this league. Loved how NYC he comes off. His knowledge of the City is a plus. Go Knicks and welcome to Obi!

If Toppin just becomes an average defender, he's going to be an all-star

Re: Obi Toppin to the Knicks @ #8
RJ-Obi-Mitch resembles a lot Melo-STAT-Tyson.
And the Knicks were significantly better without STAT (who could also shoot much like Obi) and with Melo/Tyson surrounded with shooters. The Knicks were too slow, too big with Melo-Stat-Tyson. The lane was clogged because Tyson was there for defense so Amar'e couldn't get to the rim to do what he does best.
Same will happen with this new trio. Same conundrum. Just saying.
I love Obi the person and I really like his offensive skill set. But I hate the pick.

You gonna let them play a few minutes first or do you need to borrow my shovel to bury them six feet under now?

Re: Obi Toppin to the Knicks @ #8
But Obi is suppose to be able to stretch out to the 3pt line somthing stat could never do consistently. So he could be on of those shooters around rj n Mitch on certain sets who will be deadly off a close outChanel Bomber wrote:RJ-Obi-Mitch resembles a lot Melo-STAT-Tyson.

If we put a decent pg next to him, we may have the rookie of the year.

An all star that cannot play in the 4th quarter
So basically Randle without the turnovers with slower hips and feet
It's a wash

I think it's different. Melo was a 3/4 who may have been better at the 4 at a certain point. RJ is a 2 who is probably a 3. Get a PG and shooter.

Chanel Bomber wrote:Welcome to Obi and good luck to him. Hope he succeeds here. I'll support him as long as he plays hard and shows improvement. At the very least, I liked the emotion that he showed when the pick was announced. My beef with the pick is not about him but the front office.
Mitch's days in New York are numbered by the way.
Mitch and Obi can't play together. They're both centers. Except Mitch isn't one of Rose's children. I give him a year tops before he's gone.
You do know Obi Toppin played PG in High school before the growth spurt he's not a center.

Like many of our usually draft picks right around 8-10 in about 7 years from now he’s going be that oh yeah remember when the Knicks drafted this guy? He’s now on the Mavs as a backup PF about to win a ring.
