Perfect Year to Tank?

Post#1 » by ComboGuardCity » Thu Nov 19, 2020 5:02 am

Based on this draft it looks like we’re looking for a clean slate and cleaning house...and it makes sense from a financial standpoint.

We will most likely have no fans in the stands this season. As a result there is no need to put a product on the floor to get butts in the seats. The revenue is a wash.

After 12 years...it took a global pandemic to cause us to rebuild.

I had been saying for a while that I will believe that they are moving towards a rebuild when they do something tangible to signify such a direction. I wasn't totally buying it, with the Drummond trade/Reggie buyout/etc as they could have used the acquired cap space with those moves for a re-tool in free agency.

However, I think its safe to say that Weaver's moves tonight certainly signal a tank/rebuild is in store. I'm quite happy about that.

Next 2 Drafts appear loaded so going all in on a race to the bottom now is a really good move.

Year 1 of the kids running around isn't seen by many due to no fans in the stands.

Year 2 of them + a top 5 pick? Could be exciting!

Definitely makes sense to just do it now with Covid going on.
