Ball + Riller = A draft for me

Less optimistic about Carey and even less about Richards but the other picks out weigh the slight negativity.

B. Killed it in the second round. Not completely sold in Ball, but I dont hate it.

Easily an A

Probably the best draft I have ever experience as a fan. Love getting 4 guys. Think we picked up depth in front court after passing on OO and not trading up for Wiseman.

I think we took the best player on the Board at 3 without a doubt- Lamelo was my number 1 player.

Balanced filling need and drafting for the future with Carey- his stats are insane... like legit insane.

Richards is a solid energy big that has different strengths than Carey- Jarrett Allen Lite

Riller is a shot in the dark, but he has scored from day 1 in college- could be a FVV type guy is all goes well.

B+ /A-

Our greatest need was a go-to scorer. Edwards was our guy. It's too bad the Wolves gobbled him up and did not value playmaking for KAT and Russell. But LaMelo was BPA and makes everyone better. JB stressed the need to add playmaking/scoring prior to the pick being made. We got the playmaking from a guy with an MKG shot. So I'm uneasy but can see how this positions the team for a high lotto pick in 2021. Hopefully LaMelo doesn't take too many dumb shots and leverages his elite playmaking ability.

This draft is incomplete because it could be the playmaking that sets the stage for the go-to scorer selected in 2021. So it could still potentially be an A draft.

We also still need a starting center. For now, management seems to love Rozier as a placeholder lead scorer and Zeller as a starting center. Kupchak did say how both still could be considered young with room still for improvement.

The depth added is A+ quality. Kupchak has mentioned eventually competing for a G-League championship. Kupchak did an extensive amount of research, scouting 86 players and ranking 56 slots. Before long we will be pulling good players out of our asses like the Heat and Raptors.

A. Swung for the fences with Lamelo. Drafted one big for his production and another for his measurables. Not too worried about Nick with his old pal PJ around. Grant Riller is going to surprise people.

3 - Terry - I would have traded for a future 1st.

32- Tyler Bey - I ended up drafting Bey at 32

56 - Isaiah Joe (I would have settled for either Reggie Perry or Paul Reed instead that went after at 56)

Overall it was hard to mess up this draft imo due to it's depth. So I think we did a decent job.

The guy is 2 years older than Monk, so yes, he better surprise everyone. When i see Tillie undrafted and immediately signing with Memphis (some B. Clarke connexion obviously) even if Tillman was their pick, i am not so confident with what Kupchak has done.

I am a big LaMelo Ball fan so for that alone I like the draft.

Didn’t do anything silly like give up assets to move up which was great - but I think we were left with the worst prospect at #3 and that prospects picked after Ball will have much, much better careers.

Great value picks in the 2nd round saved this draft from being a total bust - especially Carey Jr.

B. We could've traded back with Detroit. The interest was there and the guys we wanted hung around at 7.

The second round picks were smart.

We didn't do anything stupid though so that's enough for a B tbh

So to recap:

At three you are taking a guy who went 31st?

At 32 you draft a guy that went 36- seems reasonable

But at 56 you would of drafted a guy who went 49th? Can you teach Mitch this one. Impressive.

Hayes, Halli, Deni, and Vassell were all there. Its one thing if we were waiting on 'one guy' but its been clear since lottery night that we weren't.

And Detroit wasn't taking Pat. They were one of the first teams that had mutual interest with Ball.

You could be right, but many many high level talent evaluators had Ball is their number 1 player in the draft.

Hard to say Edwards or Wiseman are set to have better careers. Think both landed in kinda meh situations...

Edwards will be third Banana behind Russell and Towns and nobody on their team plays any defense. Also, they have a billion guards after trading for Rubio, getting the Argentinian guy, Culver is there, Okogie is there and also they have restricted free agent Malik Beasley.

Wiseman ends up going to a team where he will probably shoot the ball 6 times a game. I am sure he will put up good advanced metrics for rebounding, defense and efficiency though so that is solid. Just not sure Warriors are going to be motivated to putting him in a role where he can take the necessary growth steps.
