I feel like we saw how far teams can go with offensively versatile all star bigs with a weak defensive reputation in the playoffs with Jokic. Obi doesn't need to turn into Bam Adebayo, he just needs to be smart enough to make his rotation. He could probably make the adjustment in that regard particularly with Thibs preparing him with deep scouting reports and gameplans. Will he ever have his Kevin Love moment? Guarding a guy like Curry in isolation at the three point line to win the championship? He could, and that's good enough for now.

His fit on offense is a no-brainer. He can literally play everyone's role. When going up against a good defense, we might have a guy that can just give it to the other team any way they want it.

As for Randle and Mitch, there's space on the team for a 3-man rotation. Knox imo is the odd one out.

Even for Tommy Beer, this is a hack stat take

Toppin and Okoro aren't in the same stratosphere defensively nor are those stats indicative of actual defense.

At least that is a argument, better than dropping other players names and saying give Obi a chance.....

Horrible pick but not because of Obi. Just what it represents. The Knicks refuse to address the elephant in the room which is their PG. Look at the team last year when Elf got healthy. How can we expect Mitch, RJ, and now Obi to even develop when there's no PG on the roster?

And I just know this pick means Westbrook is ok the way here to fill that void but I hope I'm wrong.

I don't like the pick, but rooting for him and hopefully he proves me wrong.

I'd Randle isn't moved for Westbrook Obi over Haliburton will be one of the weirdest draft day decisions ever.

Triggered? lol, hardly. But I see that you lack reading comprehension so let me spell it out. All I said was "give the kid a chance to prove himself before casting judgement". What part of that is me acting like a kid or employee? Because I use rational and don't jump to conclusions until I get all the facts BEFORE I come away with a conclusion. The one who is triggered is you since you havn't even seen him play a live NBA game yet and already calling him a bust. I havn't denied reality either since we don't know what to expect until he steps onto the court. But hey, to each their own. If that's your modus operandi then so be it but to bash a kid before he even plays a game for us just because he wasn't your pick is beyond childish.

Lol how you wake up this aggravated lol?

Not even 9 am.

All that was said were the kids flaws and the red flags he clearly has. Your response that “we can’t say nothing bad about him until he plays a NBA game!!!” is flawed. He’s played enough games to get drafted at 8, he’s played enough games to have tape of his flaws. Go out there and counter the argument with example of games where he didn’t need a PG to create, played decent defense, or operated as a PF.

Also I never said you were acting like a kid. It just doesn’t make sense to get this emotional about a Obi who as you said “hasn’t played a game” unless you worked for MSG/CAA. You keep saying the same argument and I’ll be questioning not just your maturity, but your reasoning skills.

Maturity and reasoning skills? LMFAO ok. Markell Fultz was supposed to be a star based off his college performance and he fell off a cliff. Donavan Mitchell was supposed to be a project and his showed out the moment he set foot on an NBA court. Yet Im the immature one for using history to judge the way I see things. Same could be said about Booker and Herro. Like I said you can take things whichever way you want but Im willing to give him until the first few months of the season because I pass my judgement.

Dropping other players names and saying give Obi a chance isn’t a good argument. No one said he’s a scrub, they are saying he has red flags and flaws that could mean he is a scrub.

Anyhow at least your seem to have calmed down.

Triple C using empty stats did a better job defending the Obi pick. You should copy his approach, maybe it’ll get you a promotion.

In a pandemic draft where all draftees were at home with friends and family, It is blowing my mind that the New York Knicks used the 8th overall selection to pick a kid born and raised in Brooklyn, who was the national player of the year for a #1 see in the NCAA Tournament, whose dad was a streetball legend from Brooklyn...

...and Spike Lee was at Cole Anthony's house to see him get selected by the Orlando Magic.

(I get the NYC connections with the Anthony family and film making, but I mean DAMN)

Stop with this no PG and the Knicks are doing nothing nonsense. The Knicks already have 2 Top 10 draft picks they invested heavily in with Frank (drafted #8) and DSJ (traded KP for) who are both still young and entering their 4th season. Unless Ball was dropping in their laps, they were not taking another project PG to develop again. Yes, they might trade one of them and yes, they still need a veteran PG on the roster but they are far from barron.

I know I got on Obi's age, but if he can produce 20 ppg and 10 rpg with average defense, we did a good move. I think he has the ability to do it sooner than most rookies, probably will be the first. If you watch him play he has the same exact gaze or posture of Blake Griffin/Zion Williamson when they get in position to dunk or look for alley oops. Some guys are just naturals and Obi has the same exact vibe to him. Definitely a vertical player and that will transcend well into the NBA.

We just worry about his lateral play. If he can be good at switching defenders and help defense, what can we really complain about.

How is Toppin's passing? Blake and Zion are pretty good passers for high flyers, I wonder if Toppin can expand his game and do some point forward things. We need to get the most value for him so I truly hope his work ethic transcend expectations. I really am rooting for this dude to be the best player in the draft, just purely for one innocent reason.

He's from NYC!!!! Let's get hype.

I was commander of the Starbury Squad years ago, I had many battles with Isiashsexuals and those who were hating on my man. Best believe I'm going to shed blood again for another NYer in Toppin. Hopefully New Britain's finest Tom Thib can coach Toppin into an efficient all around player.

I am supporting Toppin and Quickley. We are not excited now because we didnt get a point guard but we do not know NYK's plan. Just get rid of Randle now.

Haliburton was right there... Like he's a perfect fit next to RJ, someone that doesn't need the ball, can shoot, can pass, and is a hound on defense.

Frank is ass water, DSJ is a clear bust (even with the positive reports about him as of late), and Haliburton isn't a project. He'd immediately be the best shooter we've had at the position since Chauncey and he's a hound on defense. If anything LaMelo is more of a project than him with his broken jumper.

We are hurting at the PG position you must've forgotten how terrible we looked without Elfrid Payton (who ain't even that good).

I liked the DSJ reports but seriously Haliburton is 6-5 and a great defender. Slide him to the 2 and RJ to the 3 if DSJ finally develops.

At this point Fred would be the best case I think given what the other rumors are but we need to clear Randle from the squad for it to work because Randle/Obi/Mitch is a problem.

Yeah Haliburton would’ve been nice too.
I’m sure the Knicks are trading Randle now. It would make no sense to keep him here with Obi.

Haliburton was my dream entering the night, too, and when he fell to 8 I was ecstatic. But VanVleet is basically the same style of player - someone that doesn't need the ball, can shoot, can pass, and is a hound on defense - and proven to be a winning player at the NBA level.

I feel like if they bring FVV in it can be a really good situation for us as fans.
