That's what Rosas is claiming. It doesn't seem to fit with our strong efforts to trade the #1 pick though.

It can fit the narrative. All the guys we could've picked at #1 this year are projects, and KAT is tired of missing playoffs, so you're searching for a trade where you get a worthy win-now piece instead of #1. But, if there's no such deal, you take the BPA, which was Edwards in Rosas' eyes.

That's why I didn't say it doesn't fit. I said it doesn't seem to fit. :D

I'm content.

I expected a trade but given what happened, or didn't I suppose, it seems all that talk was nothing but BS. So then taking a guy that could be a primary wing scorer in a league where that isht is at a premium isn't a bad move.

I'm excited to see him in our offence. All the DHOs should help solve his shot selection issues (you can make it as simple as defender goes under you shoot, defender goes over you drive) and if you can refine his shot creation skills you'll have someone who's near unstoppable.

So yeah, not the guy I was looking forward to but I'm not upset either.

I wanted Wiseman, but Edwards to me like you was an acceptable selection at #1 overall. No Ball no going over the edge of the Grand Canyon.

Yeah, I'm cringing at Rosas repeatedly telling Edwards he's gotta get to work now. Edwards ain't stupid, he knows everybody's saying he doesn't have the required work ethic, he knows he's gotta prove 'em wrong, so you don't need to show you bought into the prejudice. If he doesn't put in the work, it's not gonna be because Rosas forgot to tell him he's gotta work hard over the phone video call on the draft night.

agreed. Kind of a weird convo all together. He’ll get to work when he gets there, haha.

Nice thing is we don’t Have to wait 5 months to see him play, more like 5 weeks

I agree with this. Don't reinforce the negativity with that kind of talk.

Come on guys, he would have said those words to anyone ... even someone with a work ethic equal to Garnett's...I read it as a typical ritual sentence towards a kid...
"...I want to compliment him, we all expected that he would take up the game, we have prepared the plan race on him, we have doubled. And, as usual, he did what he wanted..."

Congratulations wolf pack on getting Edwards!!!

I've been watching Antman for years now. I have no doubt in my mind he is going to be on the same level as Mitch Richmond and Bradley Beal, or a rich man's Isiah Rider.

Don't worry about his 3pt shot, he will be hitting 40% from three and 80% from the free throw line in a year or two and he will be an all star for +10 years down the road.

I think this forum is overanalyzing his conversations and personal life details.

Yeah it is a typical ritual sentence from the boomer era, and that typical approach played its part in many young people failing. It's the opposite of a desired andragogical approach. You'd think GM's would be more socially intelligent and educated on how to lead in 2020, but here we are listening to Rosas saying 3 times in a 1 minute conversation where he's only a 1/3 of the participants that Edwards now has to repay them with hard work for picking him 1st, like he didn't earn being picked 1st already. It's disrespectful, it doesn't show confidence, just bad leadership.

Good draft pick by the Wolves. Very talented kid. The wolves should surround him very veterans that will be good role model for him. He is q very impressionable kid. If the Wolves put the right people around him he will be a perennial all star

But more than anything Edwards did in that practice gym during the one-on-one visit, it was a decision he made that really caught Rosas’ attention. As the workout started, Edwards’ trainer included some shooting drills with midrange jumpers mixed in.

“He stops the workout and tells the trainer, ‘Minnesota’s system is different. We’re not taking those shots today,'” Rosas said. “That was him on his own, unprompted. He gets what we’re doing here. He values what we’re doing. That’s what excites us. He’s a young guy who needs a lot of support, needs a lot of development and needs more experience. But he’s an incredibly intelligent young man who understands what’s going on and he’s willing to work to be a very special player in this league.”

REALLY??? I pretty sure "work" is the exact topic of conversation I want the GM saying to his employees. I am pretty sure when we traded for Rubio I bet the topic of work came up too. You guy's a grasping at straws here for real. Watch ever draft picks interview and I but some kind of variation of "let's work", "I can't wait to do work" comes up in every interview. Give it a rest be happy for the 'KID" and organization. What did you want/expect a 19 year kid who was just draft and 50 year GM talk about on the phone? f*cking stock and bonds

Rookie contract

Year 1: $9,757,440 (guaranteed)
Year 2: $10,245,480 (guaranteed)
Year 3: $10,733,400 (team option)
Year 4: $13,534,817 (team option)
Year 5: $17,595,262 (qualifying offer)

fwiw, identical contract to what Zion Williamson signed a season ago

That just shows you hear what you want to hear. Listen to it again... The very first thing Rosa told Anthony was " YOU EARN THIS OPPORTUINTY" WTF can't make it up. Just relax people it's 2020 and COVID don't we have other things in your life to analysis then a 3 min conversion that took place second after we drafted the "KID".
