the nerve of GMs to trade picks that will happen long after their contract is up

Definitely some risk. So much can happen between now and then, but it looks like should* be able to avoid bottoming out. Green is a solid win now piece that fits their roster and scheme well and they get the cap relief they needed. I think its probably a reasonable risk. It is kind of funny, though, that in any scenario where it comes back to bite them Morey will definitely be gone already lol.

Also, keeping pick 21 gives them the option to get Desmond Bane if they don't think they can work out a Harden deal and Bane is a perfect floor spacing role player for their team.

Why aren't we aquiring draft assets via trade like the Thunder?

Our play is to take a ton of swings on second round picks and develop them in Greensboro. It has been working quite well so far. Trading for first round picks is so 2019.

Too late for a trade, or was this dead after draft day? Are people already comfortable with their pick?

Sadly, I think this was a clout move by Spencer Percy. Just taking a real shot in the dark, he has not said anything since then about it. Hard to blame him, I am sure he would love the opportunity to become a beat reporter or a guy who can break news, but so far I have never really seen him nail down anything of significance.

Tried to make another insider guess later in the night about Carey being selected by Hornets to deal to Pelicans for Richards...

I think he has some good takes on team and does some cool analysis, but I think he has sources inside the organization about as much and me and you do.

Percy has talked out of his ass for years. If anybody still trusts his "sources", I have some oceanfront property in Charlotte to sell you

The Knicks are clearing cap space, who knows what the hell they're planning.

I don't think they needed to plan anything- they're just clearing off unguaranteed contracts that they shouldn't bring back

They have a fair amount of open roster spots, so they need to have some sort of plan. I hope Mitch is on the phone with them, they don't want Randle in front of Toppin and we have a glut of guards where they need bodies.

yeah a Randle for Rozier swap is intriguing. I know Randle is much better than he played with the Knicks and can play center offensively. He'd be a nice one year stopgap.

Probably something they do after free agency if they haven't signed a SG

I think Mitch tipped his hand a bit last night when he said we are targeting a backcourt veteran. A backcourt for frontcourt trade is definitely coming.
