Exactly what type of package would it take to get Westbrook?

Post#1 » by KnixinSix » Thu Nov 19, 2020 6:51 pm

Whether you agree or not that Westbrook can be an integral part of a championship team , he is the only Superstar out there right now that we have a legitimate chance at this offseason.

And whether you like it or not , this league is won by teams that have 2 or more absolute all star talents.

Knicks also likely don't get any interest from the top players without a stud player already in the fold.

To me, I am sick of the losing and want to go for it with Westbrook. I would also possibly trade Barrett or Mitch (one not both) if it meant getting a second true superstar in the fold (if someone were to come available that we don't know about).

With that said what kind of package will it take to get him?

It has to start with Randle
BAF Pacers

F. Campazzo/ J. Clarkson/ K. Lewis Jr
D. Mitchell/ J. Richardson/S. Merrill
Luka/Melo
Zion/Gay/Gabriel
KAT/Kabengele

F. Mason, Jontay, J. Harris

Other than Randle and DSJr, I don't think we should give up anything else. Maybe couple of second rounders. Taking that salary would already be a big favor to Houston.

Westbrook isn't a superstar.
BaF Lakers:

Darius Garland/Cory Joseph
Klay Thompson/Shaedon Sharpe
Keldon Johnson/De'Andre Hunter
Evan Mobley/Tari Eason
Nic Claxton/Draymond Green

Bench: Leonard Miller, Jett Howard, Markquis Nowell, Kennedy Chandler, Day'Ron Sharpe

Ultimately is that enough or will we have to include a 1st rounder? Houston is claiming they are 'comfortable ' going in to the season with both even if they are unhappy campers (Harden and Westbrook). Gamesmanship or will Houston hold out for picks too?

If they want us to take him they need to package some draft picks to us. They need to get a bounty from Harden first though.

Wait, we should be getting picks and not sending them. Let them pay Westbrook $40-50million a year

I'd give up Randle, Smith, and a Dallas first round pick. I would not give up more that

My biggest problem with Westbrook isn't with whether he is a superstar (he is not) or with his contract (which is outrageous), but with the fact that he doesn't make the players around him better. I'd much rather us take on a veteran stopgap distributor like Conley (trade) or Rondo (FA), who will help our young'uns develop.

There has to be a market for Westbrook. As of now, there is none. I watched the dude. He is clearly declining. He was avoiding contact so that he doesn't have to go to the line during the playoffs. If he won't go to the line, he is useless. 120+ million is heck of a lot of money for a guard who can't shoot and who avoids contact.

no team wants him, so why should the knicks give up ANYTHING of value just to HELP houston?

people here saying the knicks should offer up a FRP. **** that, hell no.

randle, knox, dsjr for WB, and that's it.

and if anything, for taking on his poison of a contract, the knicks should receive FRP/SRP

This is the type of team Westbrook will excel in. Toppin and Robinson will be monsters with Westbrook. Would need to add a shooter but we can be pretty good with Westbrook

Randle, Knox, and Dennis Smith Jr. No picks. I doubt anybody would offer better.

I honestly wouldn't take Westbrook even if they took Randle and gave us that Piston 1st round pick. Who on this team is going to shoot lol?

I would think so but we need perimeter shooting badly.

Agreed, we need a distributor and decent enough shooter at the 1. Westbrook hinders everyone else.
