Tank?
Klay may not even be ready to play a year from now. May miss a significant part of the 2021-22 season.
Even then, he'll be 32 in Feb 2022. May never be the same player again, especially on defense. He of course depends on a lot of off-ball movement and some post ups of smaller players. All of that could be diminished on offense and defense.
GSW and fans have to face the real possibility that the Splash Brothers are over.
So 2021 is suppose to be laden with potential franchise players.
Or do the Warriors try to claw and fight in the West to make probably one of the lower seeds and get beat by the likes of the Lakers?
Even if he hadn't been injured, it was not a foregone conclusion that they would have contended this year.
So get Curry his 300 3-pointers, give plenty of minutes and shots to Wiggins and the youngsters, but save the own FRP in 2021 and 2022.
Tank or shoot for likely first-round exit?

Re: Tank?
Tanking or going all-in for Harden/Beal are the only 2 “light years” options.
I don’t think they’ll tank though given Steph’s age(can’t waste another year of his window).
That leaves either trying to field a competitive team that won’t win the championship by using the TPE and disabled player exception to add a couple good role players.....
Or going all-in for Harden/Beal....which puts you back in the championship picture imo.

No tanking. We've got Steph's legacy to think about and too much invested in Wiggins responding to a better environment to go full Minnesota. Steph should be able to carry the team to at least a Lillard type season. Hopefully the T-Wolves pick can help put us back on track.

i don't mind the tank cause that leaves the warriors with two lottery picks in next years draft but i don't think curry and green would tank another year.

There’s no way we’re tanking if everyone else stays healthy

Re: Tank?
if Wiggins becomes an above average player, which is what he looked like last year, and Wiseman is a beast like most of us expect, this is a potential playoff team. Then you build on that next year with the Minny pick and our mid-1st.

Re: Tank?
No way we tank again. However, this does re-frame the season.
Given the contracts and age of our "big 3", a full rebuild isn't really an option. We need to spend this time developing the "next generation" of Warriors talent, including Wiseman, Wiggins, Paschall, Poole, etc. HAving them play alongside Steph and Draymond in a competitive environment will be essential for their development.
THis should shape the remaining decisions that we make, however. For example, I wouldn't consider ageing vets with the TPE or MLE. But if we can get younger players like Kris Dunn and Kelly Oubre who have the chance to stick around, than I would do it.
Building chemistry, and teaching the "Warriors Way" can take a little while, and we need to use this season to do that. Goal for this year needs to be playing competitive basketball, and making a push in the playoffs.
We have to think about Klay as the midseason acquisition who can help put us over the top next year.

You do the best you can without trading picks and accept the results, who knows maybe Wiseman is actually legit and we turn a traditionally low impact position for us into a big positive.
The important part is to not trade picks, gotta find players for free.

Re: Tank?
You don't tank so long as Steph is on this roster. You owe it to him to give him a chance to play in the playoffs. I don't know what the answer is, but this roster needs some serious upgrades. We have a wasted roster spot in Smiley right now and a glut at the C position. Because Wiseman is a rookie big, Chriss is green, and Looney has health issues, we probably still need a vet C. Hopefully that's done at the minimum, rather than blowing our MLE on a C.
Looney, who is our best defensive C come playoff time, probably has to get moved. I'll be very sad when that happens. Smiley hopefully can be dumped in a Looney deal. Fingers crossed that with the DPE we can get a dynamic wing or a shooter, but there's not a lot of them in that price range.
What a nightmare.

He's been to the Finals 5 years with 3 rings. GSW was screwed over in 2016-17. Most all-NBA players, even MVPs, don't have that for their whole career.
They had good health most of those years. Remember the early teens, there were always key injuries going into the playoffs. So looks like we're reverting to the mean.
At this point, might as well chase the 3-point record. Truth is, before his injury last season, he struggled without spacing around him.
Unless the young players show they can be decent NBA players right away, it's hard to see them competing in the West. They could make the playoffs but they're easy prey if they barely reach it.
They could have two lotto players in a rich draft.
I think Lacob may feel pressure to spend the TPE, to try to fill that arena, because he's got to be hurting. No way it's coming close to the revenues projections he had before.
So another tank year would kill the finances for Chase Center.
Really the choice is tank or have a treadmill year. Well Minny pick may turn out to be great but their own pick will be middle of the first round if they try to treadmill.

Only way we get someone at that level, and it should probably be Beal since he's 4-5 years younger, is to give Washington like 5 first-round picks, including the Minnesota pick and probably Wiggins for salary match.
Look at all the picks the Clippers gave up for PG13 and the picks Houston gave up for Westbrook.
Will it work? These players could fill it up but they don't defend like Klay did.
