Smitty deleted the tweet, never mind. Edited:

I think it is the other way. They have to option to terminate their contract. They have to do something to leave if they do nothing then the final year kicks in.

I think what you're talking about is the Early Termination Option (ETO).

As a kid I used to throw my bag on the ground Friday afternoon. Then after late afternoon CBS game on Sunday, 60 minutes would play. As soon as that music hit I would go “oh no!” and run to the bag and grab all my homework to be done for Monday.

I feel that’s what Ainge is going to do at 4:00 PM.

No he doesn't. He would not be the first NBA player to act like an ass because he isn't getting is own way. Still expect him to be on the nets at some point.

But I assume we will find out in the next few hours if he opts out or not right?

Yeah but he likely opts out which leaves like 10 possible outcomes at the very least

Hopefully they get SOME additional sweetener for this deal. Disappointing they couldn't make it a conditional 1st that might devolve into a pair of 2nds.

Gorcha. Even though it may not be the case if he opts out then as far as I am concerned he is leaving.

yeesh. When Austin Rivers opts out of $2.4M it must be bad in HOU.

Spoiler:
I was hoping he made like $5m for that to have a little more impact. But I stand by it with $2.4M

He'd be ok coming off the bench for a scoring punch.
