However, I think he will pair well beside Graham long-term and now we just have to fix our defense and get a big that can rim protect. PJ can't do it all!!

I hear you! My biggest fear was Edwards of the top 3, Balls passing should translate, I think we are looking at a Washed Livingston worst case or skinny Diaw. He's going to be able to move the ball and get others going, but he needs to develop everything else.

STRETCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Reports were saying Detroit wanted to trade up for Patrick Williams.

That's interesting and something I could completely believe. I'm glad we went with Ball over that package but both would have been wins in my mind.

I was holding out hope for that. would've been a much better move.

It's clear we had strong interest in Okongwu. Bonnell releasing the info about his broken toe at the last minute was an effort from us to get him to fall. The Hawks didn't take the bait though.

I was actually going to ask you last night if he reminded you of Ben Simmons.

JMAC3 wrote:Us having a younger team has a lot to do with it. We aren't organized right away and we spend the first 4-5 seconds of each possession setting up spacing and getting the pick and roll lined up where I think veteran teams are quicker into their sets which has a large impact on Pace.

DY_nasty wrote:Our offball movement is monstrously bad and only a few guys could create shots or even initiate the offense.

We'd need more active wings and offball play to not be in the bottom third or dead last in pace this year without absolutely destroying our efficiency to push tempo we can't effectively manage.

Both of these are great points.

Can't find it, but in all the discussion around Miles last week I saw some talk about how he is most creative with the ball in his hands. That's how he generates his scoring and passing ... and he hasn't really been in that role here in Charlotte. PJ feels a bit the same way to me. Neither one of those guys does a bunch of off-ball movement ... and they are both supposed to be good passers but we didn't see a ton of that kind of ball movement from them last year. The team really does need more catch and shoot guys.

I also think that D is a huge factor. You push the ball when the opposing defense isn't set and that mostly happens when the team has gotten a stop on the other end. I think that the Hornets are going to have to get better there so that they can attack more.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

One thing if for sure, Ball is the first "celebrity" player we've had since Lin.

Will be interesting to see if he ends up with his own fanbase. Sort of torn on that, for obvious reasons.

There's going to be a big push for him to start sooner rather than later, especially if the team hits an early losing streak.

My gut is that Miles is the one who will get pushed to the bench.

Fer sure. Those Lin days were brutal here. Regardless of how it shakes out, I have a feeling there will be a dedicated thread for 'Ball Family Matters' :(

Trade Rozier and Zeller and the deadline and let LaMelo tank us while he learns, pair him with Cade or Jalen Green, and we will take off

My biggest immediate fear with ball is it will take him three to four years to add needed strength and muscle to his game to absorb contact at The Rim as well as improving bat jumper so teams have to respect him and go over the pick. Will ball still be willing to stick around in Charlotte for a second or third contract? By the time he starts becoming a real problem to defend I'm afraid that he will set his eyes towards a bigger Market. At worst, hopefully that gives us a very valuable trade chip down the road.

Ball seems like the type of guy that likes to create a brand. He doesn't want to be a follower. If he can set Charlotte on the map and be known for that, I think he will embrace the city and the fans. We'll also be able to offer him the most money and he does a great job of marketing himself without needing to live in a major city.

Key will be improving the team and showing an effort to go deep in the playoffs because I very seriously doubt he will want to take the criticism if we suck for the next 4 years.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

His body has transformed a great deal just over the last 10 months. Looking forward to seeing how he physically transforms over the next couple years
